Guilford, please deposit your pride and penis at the door, your manhood license is hereby revoked

Now…I want to praise this episode, because the development was rather good, seeing as they managed to take the more difficult road of making Lelouch absolutely mindfuck Rolo instead of going for the infinitely easier “LOL, gun is empty” route.

But that golden sticker is immediately revoked by another glaring problem we’re facing. Sunrise, it was cool that you decided to mirror the episode of CG R1 in episode one, I didn’t even mind when you did it again in episode two, but please stop. Pulling this kinda of thing once is neat, twice is gimmicky, any more than that and it’s evidence of uncreative writing.

ORA ORA ORA ORA ORA ORA

Macross Frontier lends itself surprisingly well to the creation of awesome gifs.

As for the actual episode itself, not bad, but not particularly good either. The Miss Macross Frontier competition was much shallower than I thought it would be and the inner workings of the SMS were pretty dull as well. The combined Ranka concert scene and Alto mock battle was a nice combo.

Anime Blog Awards, nomination results

S-s-stupid aniblogosphere, it’s not like I asked you to vote for me or anything.

The Anime Blog Awards nominations are over and the results are out, the top five blogs with the most nominations moving on to the actual voting stage.

Despite my belief that I would be crushed in the only category that this blog is fit for, episodic summaries, I somehow managed to squeeze my way in alongside randomc, Subculture, Star Crossed and Tenka Seiha Sea Slugs. Interesting to note that I’m the ONLY one of the five that does not blog raw, which can be seen as both detrimental or beneficial.

Update: Aroduc dropped out and the Sea Slugs Team lead by Kabitzin has replaced him as the fifth nominee.

Having seen the list of blogs to make it past the nominations stage, I can’t help but question how effective the ABA is with regards to their mission statements:

1. To serve as exposure for new bloggers.
2. To objectively measure a blog’s achievements by means of peer review.
3. To encourage readers to move out of their comfort zone by discovering new blogs.

A quick glance over the results shows that, outside the Rookie category, they don’t lend themselves much to points one and three. Although, admittedly, I did find some relatively new and interesting blogs during the process of nomination, so I guess it served its purpose in that regard.

In any case, many thanks to everyone for their nominations. Voting will start on April 27 and will be split into two categories “Readers’ Choice” and “Bloggers’ Choice”. Details on the voting system will be released soon, at which time I may do some campaigning since every vote counts when one finds himself up against Omni’s behemoth of an anime blog.

Soul Eater 03

Wat.

By some admittedly arbitrarily chosen, yet fairly effective standard, prologues usually last in the range of half an episode to one full episode before jumping into the main bit. Yet Soul Eater’s prologue extended a full three episodes without even telling us it was a prologue…nice. Many series would have been a quarter way done by now. Although, granted it is slated for 51 episodes and by the same token you could argue that Bleach took a good 70 episodes worth of “prologue” to get into the main story which now consists of powerlevel bs on an equivalent level of DBZ. But I digress, enough with the Bleach comparisons, Soul Eater is more along the lines of Shaman King anyways.

Kure-nai 03

Loli haet water

More of the same from Kure-nai this week, that is, Murasaki learning the ways of the real world and causing quite a bit of chaos along the way. Even though they’ve done this for three episodes already, I don’t find myself tiring of it, I could probably watch an entire 13 episodes of Murasaki’s antics. However, having said that, I think this might be the last purely “slice of life” episode we’re going to get, the end of the episode suggesting we’re about to head into the deep end of the story line.
