NSFW post warning!

…because this is the best siscon anime this season.

A true siscon series too (twincest, no less), none of that wishy washy “we’re not blood related” nonsense. Among full length series, only Koi Kaze comes to mind as another anime that didn’t cop out in that regard.

Yosuga no Sora was done in the omnibus format, meaning that each member of the harem had their own arc and the story was reset up to a certain point for the next girl. The harem aspect of the show was more or less what you would expect if you’ve ever watched any generic harem, the MC waltzes into town and has the mysterious power of attracting all the women around him like a neodymium magnet. There’s of course no reasoning behind it, most of the girls are simply in awe of Haru’s beauty. It’s not like he’s a particularly nice guy either, in fact, quite the opposite, he can be a real ass sometimes.

But let’s not kid ourselves, the whole omnibus harem aspect of the show was completely secondary, none of the other girls were particularly memorable, except maybe for Nao, the entire show was a lead up to the Sora arc, which blew all others out of the water. The whole series was essentially a cocktease, having Sora sit idly by as love interest by love interest NTRs her brother away from her. As the arcs go on, you begin to doubt that Sora will get her turn, coming to a climax in Nao’s arc.

Now we’re even, bitch.

But finally the tables turn and in the most satisfactory way possible with Sora literally NTRing Nao. Haru’s handling of the situation was mildly annoying though, while I understand his frustrations and whatnot, I didn’t like that instead of painful introspection he ended up taking it out on Sora. It was probably a result of lack of time, an entire episode or two of expositional internal monologue doesn’t build tension as fast as slapping Sora in the face, nor is it as interesting, but it really made me hate Haru. Even the ending, with them running away instead of just facing up to their narrow minded friends was certainly Haru’s decision, as Sora didn’t care what those plebeians thought.

I really liked Sora’s arc, largely because it shut up all the naysayers who kept calling Sora a lazy, clingy, good for nothing imouto. Admittedly, before we saw Sora get her act together, it was kinda tough to defend her as the best girl, cutest character design only got her so far before you realized all she did was lounge around at home and complain about things while doing nothing about them. Thankfully her brocon cocklust really kicked her motivation into overdrive.

How high do you…aw shit I already did that one didn’t I

Returning to the plebeians…I hated this girl, so so much. First off, you do not just barge into people’s houses, regardless of the circumstances. Sure, maybe if you heard Sora crying bloody murder you might wanna run in and check out what’s up, but those cries were of a different sort and honestly, it’s none of your business.

Now here’s where opinions diverge a lot, but personally, I don’t think there’s anything wrong with incest, and I don’t even confine this to the realm of anime. People will tell me it’s because I don’t have a sister of my own, etc etc., and hey, maybe if I did have a sister, I would be disgusted by the idea of having sex with her. But that’s entirely beside the point, the truth of the matter is…

You fall in love with whoever you fall in love with, there are factors more complex than anyone could map out in the process, but the fact is that once it happens, you’re powerless against it. And from there the only thing you can do is to choose whether you’ll let the taboos of society dictate whether or not you act on your feelings. And don’t give me the deformed child thing either, the chances are increased slightly, but it’s not like the first generation of inbreeds is going to have an extra limb growing out of its skull. If that’s the only rebuttal you have against incest, then it’s quite simply solved by choosing not to have kids, as Sora implied she would be willing to do.

The animation in Yosuga no Sora varied pretty wildly, some scenes, usually the ones with Sora in it, were vividly animated, and then there was the meido omakes. Oh, and there’s lots of boobies. Most of the sex scenes were still frame, that is, until the arc that matters :3

The soundtrack was calm and fitting, the main theme doing a good job of setting the mood for their backwater village and also carrying this almost melancholic tone. The OP sucked but I did like the two EDs, the first one being better sounding than the OP and the second for that weird violin twang they do at the start.

My say in terms of recommendations is that you should watch this if you’re into wincest. If you’re deftly against it, then obviously stay the fuck away unless you want to give yourself a hernia. Even for siscon lovers, the 10 episode lead up before you finally get to see Sora and Haru together might be stretching it, but if you’re going to watch it, then go all the way with it. Don’t wuss out and just watch the episodes that play out Sora’s arc, it’s much more rewarding watching the whole series in anticipation.

The two things that make this scene awesome are 1. The “I just came and don’t give a damn” look on Sora’s face and 2. The dropping of the cell phone.

    >_<!!!

IMHO yosuga no sora was basically amagami but with without the implied sex part being only implied, watching it made me feel dirty lol. :P

I wouldn’t call it “falling in love”; it’s exactly like “falling in lust”. And it can only be in Japanese animation that the female takes the initiative to let the sin begin. Watch THAT episode and see what happens next at Animeflavor.com

At the first episode, the anime was VERY predictable. Then it became better, then it went OH SHIT during Sora’s arc. I was still skeptical how the writer is going to justify the incest (which is a huge factor whether this anime is shit or not), and the answer is : “They didn’t spend much time as children because of Sora’s ill health.”, which ended my post anime research in Westermarck effect & Genetic sexual attraction. Sp yeah, it wasn’t shit (sora’s ark that is), though the rest of the harem was just cliche.

This anime is absolutely shit! It’s more like hentai-anime IMO… Not just the story but the conclusion in the end, they (haru and sora) just ran away, when people find that they’re incest they move to another city or whatever, not settle things there..

Well, struggling through the first 3/4 of this series was totally worth it for the Sora arc, imo.
