In any case, Van has the skill of manipulating others to his will, like replica!Luke, so it really isn't that far of a stretch. Not to mention, Van needed the hyperresonance to do what he did in Akzeriuth -- the only two who can use it by themselves are Asch and Luke, so he probably needs to keep at least one of them with him in order to fulfill his plan. Also, my guess on Jade "going back to the way he was before" could mean he's becoming more cold and calculating. I can see him going overboard with experimenting, that's for sure. Still, I agree that it fits Dist more. The people of Kimlasca seem to miss a lot of stuff and are usually spurred into action whenever some leading figure tells them to.
