The only gripe about
haircut mode Luke I've ever had is the fact he has this moment of depression alot of times during the game and it's abused BADLY.

"Sighs.... that's right I'm a replica...."
Luke changes so much even Jade is shocked (I think....)

I use CoreAVC and MediaPlayerClassic HomeCinema on my PC (P4 2.4GHz, 1GB DDR RAM).
Set the CoreAVC codec to preferred through Options -> External Filters -> Add Filter, when you run the episode right click on the screen and choose Filters then CoreAVC Video Decoder and change the Deblocking from Standard to Skip always (Doing this will reduce the quality of the video dramatically).
I hope that will help you and if it didn't help try using Zoom media player or The Core Media Player.
Good Luck.

Yes, this will be the end self-centered spoiled brat long haired Luke and there will obviously be some big changes. I personally like Luke a lot after he loses the attitude and hair, much more than Asch (Though, yes, he is badass), but I know some people couldn't tolerate the new Luke to the point where they were asking for spoiled brat Luke to come back.

Honestly, though, how can you say the new Luke sucks when he comes out and says something like this:

ANISE: Hey! Just you wait, I'll get as big as Tear when I'm grown up!

LUKE: Please. No way you could hope to match those melons!

TEAR: M-MELONS?! Both of you! Stop being stupid and be quiet! Now!

Learn how to use Mencoder (or MeGUI, whatever).
I just have a script that runs
mencoder -quiet -mc 0 -ofps 24000/1001 -of avi -ovc lavc -lavcopts vcodec=mpeg4:vbitrate=960:trell:autoaspect -oac mp3lame -lameopts br=128 -o %OUT%.avi %MKV%
mkvmerge -o %OUT%.mkv %OUT%.avi -D -A %MKV%
del %OUT%.avi

...sort of. I've also got a few options for rescaling and two-pass encoding when I want a better looking picture.

@Skh: Yes, I have indeed tried CoreAVC (acquired through dubious methods, mwahaha), but the same problems occur, namely my screen goes black, I hear parts of the audio that stutter through, and if I wait long enough, it reverts my screen resolution to 640x480. So yeah, no dice. ;_;

@miken-chan: Sorry if my comment sounded a bit rude, I know that as a subbing (and you personally, a scanlation) group you guys probably deal with numerous "TOA RELEASE WHERE!?" comments, and I certainly don't help. I should actually be thanking you guys since as of late you've been the second fastest group to sub the series. I just want to make an entry around the same time I feel everyone is talking about it (Hurr hurr, Jay on time with entries), though it's not like ToA is talked about that much on AniAri anyways ^^; (inb4 "What's to discuss?")

I'm very sorry for our inconsistent releases at Abyssal Chronicles -- We are not a speed subbing group and we have a pretty long process to polish off the translation, usually pushing releases to Friday. (Although timing is usually done by Monday/Tuesday)

That and most of us are pretty lax about our speed...not to mention that we're spread over a lot of timezones, meaning the downtime before each person recieves his/her part is pretty big. XD;;

As for the episodes themeselves:
- Basically, this is the part where I was sold for Asch as my favorite character too. I mean, he has a very good reason for his perpetual frown. XD;;
- Luke is almost unbearable in any media (manga/anime/game) during the journey to Akzeriuth. It was a test of endurance not to throw my PS2 against the wall every time he broke into another whining fit during the game.

By the way, I love your commentary for each entry~

Did you try CoreAVC? It's an excellent decoder for H264 videos, faster than ffdshow. With it, I was almost able to watch 720p videos on my old Athlon XP 1700+, if there was not too much action... It's not free, though.
