FFFFFFFFFFffff…

And yeah, we’re going with AQS/Sprocket subs today because it looks like Eclipse is taking the weekend off (Halloween’s next week dolts!).

*salute* T_T

Mixed feelings here..I must say that Sunohara looked quite GAR when he busted in and took on the soccer club, since I’m so used to him getting kicked multiple times, and the fight with Tomoya pretty much pushed any doubt in my mind that he’s actually a good fighter (his sudden realization that Nagisa has been there the entire time doesn’t help his intelligence at all though)…but the entire basis for Sunohara acting like a douche was because of the lie that Tomoya and Mei were dating?  If that’s the case, then what happened to the contents of the entire last episode where he wouldn’t act as a mediator between some kids fighting when he had gone through a similar experience, and acting immature just because he had a “girlfriend”?  I guess you could see it in the way that Mei didn’t really have to worry about Sunohara’s life at all, but he’s still not going to have much of a future other than working a lower end job.  Sunohara shows his trust in Tomoya’s ability to take care of his sister by acting like he doesn’t care, and isn’t the intolerable ass we thought he was?  lolwut?

In fact, most of this episode seemed to center more on Tomoya and Sunohara’s (non-sexual!) relationship towards the end when the two duke it out, and during Tomoya’s flashback on how the two first met; back then, it was when Tomoya started smiling again, presumably the first time since his dad injured his shoulder, maybe even before that.  Isn’t it technically Tomoya’s fault for faking going out with Mei?  Honestly, because of the two’s motivations for doing things that only made things worse, I’m not exactly sure who to blame here, even if I’m a bit biased towards Sunohara since Tomoya is the protagonist.  Ugh…

It’s a copypasta bully without that pOnOs-hairstyle.

Anyone could’ve seen the entire soccer team plotline from a mile away, it was painfully obvious they weren’t going to let Sunohara in regardless of what Tomoya & Co. did, and the whole scene was really just frustrating to watch since I can never stand for these types of characters for long (and no, I wasn’t teased in high school o_o).  The goal was obviously to make the audience’s RAGE build up (especially during Mei’s parts >_<) and make Sunohara the hero, but I would’ve much preferred it if Tomoyo had shown up and made quick work of them.

As I said before, the episode made it seem like Mei’s worries for Sunohara’s future were for nothing and that her worrying too much caused all of this to happen.  WTF?  Isn’t it natural for a sibling to worry about their elder ones, especially when the elder one is a delinquent?  Hell, I didn’t even understand why Mei was sobbing apologies at the end, besides maybe because of her supposed relationship with Tomoya, but I still stand by it that she really didn’t have much, if anything, to apologize for.  To top it all off, Mei just up and goes back home offscreen, and writes a letter saying that she’ll be sure to find a good friend.  As in what?  A good friend to establish a strong bond like Sunohara and Tomoya?  A boyfriend that will protect her in the way Sunohara wishes that Tomoya had?  *scratches brain*

Because friendship is a FABULOUS thing.

But then everything goes back to normal when the two friends laugh at both of their injuries the next day the same way they did when they first met, and I’m at least glad that Tomoya and Co. were indeed able to get Sunohara to get off his high (or low?) horse and become the same goofy-mannered Sunohara we all know and love, and what better way to do so than to have him discover the truth behind Sanae’s relation to Nagisa, and have him scream that familiar tune.  I’m at least glad the Sunohara arc wrapped up, and the episode wrapped it up pretty well.

One more thing:  Yukine’s consultation here was expected but I was very surprised that the subject of her brother was brought up.  I had initially thought that this meant that her arc would be the next to be covered, but obviously the previews point towards another direction.  The way they covered so much of it right now makes me wonder if whether or not Yukine may have own arc or not; at the very least, I’d expect one more episode to cover the few remaining pieces in Yukine’s story. PREVIEW

As hinted above, I was able to finally get my hands on Clannad and play it.  Since this means that Misae’s Arc (Hint: The cat) won’t be that much of a surprise to me, I’ll be focusing on comparisons throughout this and possibly Yukine’s Arc should they again get around to it.

Some obligatory Mei… ^_^

…and some QUALITY Nagisa.  o.o

And here’s to hoping Kyou and Ryou get an arc devoted to them that isn’t totally shafted and short!; I seriously doubt it, but we can all dream!  And now gentlemen, I leave you with this:

Ha ha haaa!…loli abuse. O_@

At this point, there’s no use in complaining about the nonsensical plots and holes in this series and just go along for the ride. The fight alone pretty much made up for the disappointment that we have to go through more side plots before getting to the actual After Story.

What holes? The only hole I see is the one that Jay made when he completely failed to address the main point of Episode 4: Ryou random eye scratching 9:35. Behold its gloriousness! Cutest thing since…well, Mei in Episode 3.

@ItAintEazy: But see, I’d expect that more from an action or sci-fi series and not so much from a series like Clannad. It feels like to me that this was the first one to surface, or rather that I’ve never seen one happen in this or Kanon until now. If there was one, then I must not have noticed.

@Roy Mustang: Sorry, I don’t usually make it a point to notice scenes Ryou is in when she doesn’t cry, because I usually get aroused when when she does. Also, I’ve directed a bit of anger towards her since a lot of her dialogue in the VN has so much stuttering (i.e. “I…eh…ehhhhhh!? Wa…wawawwawawawa~…) I feel like I’m talking to a special-ed student in a Lamaze class. Like my index finger and thumb aren’t getting arthritis fast enough!

This episode was GAR, and I mean that in a good way. I usually hate seeing anime guys stereotypically solve problems with mindless violence, but I have to admit, Clannad somehow found a way to make it cool. Also, I know the story did have a few holes here and there, but personally, I enjoyed the arc either way; I guess it’s one of those things I just choose not to think too hard about, lest I uncover an unsettling plot hole that would ruin my enjoyment of the show.
