Code Geass R2 02, speedhax

Best cockpit design, ever.
I know I wasn’t supposed to post until next Friday, but hey, I’m bored (read: slacking) and figured this would be as good a way to procrastinate as any other. I don’t have time to do a summary though, so I’ll be skipping that this week, I’m assuming everyone and their little sister have watched it already though.
Pretty good episode, reminiscent of the early days of Code Geass R1, before it went downhill. Lots of plot questions answered, but many more questions raised in their place.

So we’re finally shown what happened in the cave…and wow, just wow. I hate Suzaku, with a passion that is indescribable in mere words. If his wall running bullet dodging of the semi-automatic gunturret in the first season wasn’t a bad enough bending of physics, here he dodges a bullet at no more than four meters, does a triple salchow -> roundhouse kick and pins Lulu to the ground. Then he sells his friend out to the Emperor so he can get a promotion, throwing away his morals for his retarded sense of justice. If Code Geass R2 doesn’t end with Lulu absolutely wrecking Suzaku’s shit, I’m going to put my fist through my monitor.

However, the Emperor having a geass was a nice revelation, one that I expected, but was still cool to see. I’ve had this theory since the first season that the one behind all this geass stuff is the emperor himself, both his eyes are geassed, so assuming a linear relationship between number of geass and power, this guy is twice as strong as anyone with a single geass.
My theory is that the emperor goes around handing out single geass to see if anyone will rise up and overthrow him, making them worthy to be the next leader of Britannia. It’s a bit of a stretch now, given that it’s clear the Emperor doesn’t have control over C.C., who was the one who gave Lulu his geass, but meh. In any case, it’ll be interesting to hear the story behind the Emperor, who has thus far just been a “Final Boss” character who sits on his throne waiting for Lulu to show up, but it now more active in the story.

And of course there’s Rollo, who is still very much an anomaly, we know next to nothing about his origins nor his intentions. My guess is that he’s a failsafe of sorts that the Emperor put on Lulu, in the case he regains his memory, which would explain why Rollo is coming to kill him now. His geass is another interesting aspect, exactly what it does hasn’t been revealed. I’m thinking one of two things, it either:
1. Gives him the ability to teleport, or…
2. Gives him the ability to eliminate his presence from the minds of people around him
The former is an obvious conclusion, but the second makes more sense. None of the geass abilities so far have shown any physical abilities, they’re all based on manipulation of the mind. So rather than Rollo being able to teleport, which completely destroys any remaining credibility of the physics in the code geass world, it makes more sense that he can “remove” himself from people’s minds. That is, he’s still there, but the people around him are simply unable to comprehend his presence, and when they snap out of it, he seems to have “teleported” in a sense.
That’s my take on it anyways.

One part I was torn on this episode was the rehashing of Lulu’s first counterattack against the Britannians. It was essentially the same scene from the first season replayed all over again, Lulu steals a knightmare and uses the knowledge of enemy formations to wipe them out. This is the stuff that made me love the first season, the tactical battles which displayed Lulu’s ability to instantly manipulate information to turn the tide of battle, contrast to the stupid deus ex stuff that started happening late in the show. However, that being said, it was a rehash, and therefore wasn’t the slightest bit original.
Aside from that, some nice character interaction this episode, especially between Kallen and Lulu. Kallen’s behaviour towards Lulu is almost schizophrenic, revering Zero, yet rejecting Lelouch. Was also nice to see Lulu crack a joke for once, although he’ll never rid himself of the “Gay for Suzaku” image he has in fancircles if he keeps acting like he does, the guy had a free ticket to an all you can eat Kallen buffet and let it pass by. Although, I suppose you could argue more pressing matters were at hand.

Zero’s official return was kinda lame, lacking in impact. I lol’d at Diethard orgasming when he saw that Zero was back though, that was hilarious. Also, delicious Kaguya, goddess of victory, is shown to be alive and well, so that’s always a plus. Lulu’s propaganda scheme was still same old same old though, preaching true justice and the complacency of the Britannians.

Have some Kallen tits to tide you over until my return

“If Code Geass R2 doesn’t end with Lulu absolutely wrecking Suzaku’s shit, I’m going to put my fist through my monitor.”
I second this motion, my hand is ready. I could do without Jesus-mode Suzaku too, dodging bullets and running up walls inducing many eyerolls.

That makes a lot of sense. I figured his ability wasn’t purely the ability to warp around, but for lack of a better explanation that’s what I had to go on for now.
I would be worried about carrying my keys like that, because with the bounce, the keys could easily be displaced. Also, Lulu sucks at FPS.
“Best cockpit design, ever.”
I agree.
“speedhax”
I think Rollo unpluged his cable for a second like a little b*tch.
I ….THIRD the motion. I think It would be very awesome scene. Lelouch bashing Suzaku and calling his ideal “idiotic” with Suzaku left speechless…..Ok maybe that was a bit cruel, something around those lines though.
Nice prediction on Rollo’s ability.
and yeah….the cockpit has it’s uses…
“the guy had a free ticket to an all you can eat Kallen buffet and let it pass by. ”
This is were the doujins come in.
Now for me to make a post on this.
Not fair … I haven’t seen this yet but KallenxLelouch YAY!
Just an episode of WTFs…
WTF @ Emperor’s Geass
WTF @ Chinese Federation
WTF @ Nina’s new hairdo
WTF @ Rollo
Fools. They aren’t going to kill Suzaku, at least not this season. It’s clear they are going to milk this franchise for all it’s worth, and they aren’t going to quickly complete that revenge fantasy.
I was wondering what she had stuffed in there.
And yeah, Rollo’s speedhax were rather lame I think, in retrospect, it makes more sense if he was using his geass to do so, but at this rate Lulu’s Geass is getting rather pathetic. I wonder if they’re up for another power level upgrade…
And I’d still like to know what the hell was behind that door in the cave.
I call clone on Rolo.
Thing with the geass-teleporting is the lost time would eventually become apparent. When he first used it, listening on the radio (which couldn’t be affected) seemed to be realtime.
There’s something about Fukuyama x Koshimizu that just makes for anime win. I dare Japan to prove me wrong.
Whole lotta bunny buns here. Not that I’m complaining. But when am I gonna get my pizza butt!
OH NOES!
I thinks that Rollo can stops people’s sense of time!
Poor Lelouch. He is so poor at exercise.
There is something special about Suzaku, don’t get me wrong, I hate his guts as much as the rest of you. But if you remember the episode where Zero’s geass went haywire CC looks straight at Suzaku from the nightmare cockpit. I don’t remember the exact quote but she jumps out of the cockpit and pretty much tells him he is special in some way/shape/or form.
I think it is this “Special” that we see when he runs up walls, dodges bullets, etc. Also the fact he can start the lancelot and others can’t. Of course, that’s an old Gundam cliche, but who cares!
Suzaku is ten times the faggot than Lelouch, sucks Britannia’s cock and the official douchebag of this anime. No thanks for killing your own dad the last Prime Minister of Japan and then choosing to fight for an enemy empire that despises your existence.
PS: Kallen in a bunny suit = :3
Shirukii. Thanks for your comments on my blog. Please check my response.
I was mostly staring at the cockpit accessories *mmmm*
Don’t hate me for this, but I think Rollo is Nunally after a sex change. Seriously, they look really alike! The geass is actually a genetic family trait (hello? power of the KING.) And also, C.C. will probably turn out to be the King’s long lost lover or something. AHHHH!! WHy did I just say that? There’s no way that can happen! My favorite charactor CANNOT
Also: SUZAKU MUST DIE!!! He is seriously the most annoying character ever.
Sorry for double posting, but there was a glitch (blame my 2 years old computer with 512 memory)
My favorite charactor CANNOT be in a situation like that.
That’s what I was trying to finish. Am I the only one who think C.C. looks better in this season than the last?
@Hypertoast
I think C.C. is real hot this season. I wouldn’t mind seeing her eating some of that Pizza too. Besides that does anyone think she is romantically involved with Lulu here? They have been working together fairly well, but she did speak of her past and would natrually just be using Lulu for her goal. Also, I have always still wondered who she was talking to during season one…unless I missed something there.
@ Calawain: Seriously, Suzaku’s hax makes Kira Yamamoto look like your everyday human.
As for Rollo’s geass, what led me to that conclusion was trying to keep them as psychological weapons, else I would have gone with straight teleporting as well.
@ Kabitzin: Lulu sucks at everything except RTS, I bet he could take the Koreans at SC.
@ Totali: Cable? Am I missing a reference here? What cable?
@ Avisch: No, that sounds about right, Suzaku needs to have his hypocritical sense of justice smashed to the ground.
Other than doujins, I’m beginning to suspect that we’ll never see any direct evidence of Lulu’s sexual orientation, lest Sunrise alienate either the CC/KallenXLulu or SuzakuXLulu shippers.
@ blissmo: Haha, slowpoke, subs have been out for an eternity.
@ IcyStorm: A single “WTF” would have sufficed in summing up the episode altogether, lol.
@ ItAintEazy: Shh, don’t ruin our delusions.
@ Vadigor: Haha yea, I thought it was a lighter or something, took me a second to realize it was the key to her knightmare.
One of the huge disadvantages of Lulu’s geass is the requirement that he look directly into the eyes of the victim. I’m sure he’ll get an upgrade soon enough.
@ Telliamed: Yea, the radio transmissions being in real time is a downfall in my theory, but hey, it is only a theory, how his geass really works remains to be seen.
@ Randor: That’s another one I considered, but when I tried to figure out how it would work locally without causing some retarded reference frame problems, I gave up, lol.
@ barosl: Brains over brawn, I suppose.
@ Lowlife: Yea, no doubt he’s special in some way. But that shouldn’t allow him to perform feats beyond the limits of human physique =(
@ Hangmen: My sentiments exactly. Fapping at the speed of light!
@ Servbot: Ah, but consider how much harder that would have been if not for the contour shape of the cockpit itself.
@ Hypertoast: Actually, I hear that getting tossed around a lot more than you’d think. I could sorta see it working, Emperor rewriting memories and all, it would be such a mindfuck though, lol.
@ Dando008: It was sorta implied at the end of last season that the two share a deeper bond than their contract, but honestly, C.C. is pretty much immortal and Lulu isn’t, I doubt her feelings for him extend past “using” him.
Also, I’ve always been confused as to where all the fanart where C.C. has a hueg ass (ie. pizzabutt) comes from. It’s not really that big in the show. Unless there was an isolated case where the animators drew it abnormally large and the fanart ran away with it.
So… Did the Emperor himself personally geass all of Lelouch’s classmates? Because all of them seem pretty oblivious to the fact that Rollo has replaced Nunnally (seriously, if Rollo turns out to be Sunrise’s new Dilandau, I will probably die of laughter), and it looks like Shirley isn’t aware of Zero’s true identity anymore.
Apparently, according to RC, someone leaked the final minutes of episode three into the nets.

Need a Guren MkIII for an even better cockpit design. *drools*
According to ANN (link on my name) it looks like they will still air the 3rd episode as planned with no intentions of changing the orginal content.
ItAintEazy: I’m guessing you posted that spoiler? At least you had the decency to use the tag. ^^
The leak seems to have cause quite a ruckus with rumours of a possible re-write. Luckily they decided to air it anyway.
Best cockpit design, ever.
I see what you did there.

In the words of The One: Woah…
mmm, cockpit …
Feh. I’m boycotting CG. My favorite character got offed.
