Chi’s Sweet Home, because this is what my Friday nights have become
April 4th, 2008 by Shirukii

So I come home on a Friday night and am greeted by the absence of a new Clannad episode. As if that’s not bad enough, the spring anime season has begun, leaving me with very little to cover elsewhere while fansubbers are busy going through the motions of a new project, having to set TL, typesetting, etc. not to mention the extra time it takes to do the OP/EDs.

So with little else to talk about, I bring you Chi’s Sweet Home! They’re nothing more than 2 minute shorts, probably aired during a lull in programming or something, Chi’s Sweet Home follows the story of Chi a kitten who has gotten separated from the rest of her litter and taken in by some random family as a stray. At first, Chi is determined to leave the house and seek out her mother and siblings, however as the family provides her with food, shelter, and some less desirable things like a bath, Chi begins to get used to living with a family and is now showing signs of forgetting about her previous family.
Now, this may seem like simple shorts with no substance, essentially about the daily life of a cute little kitten, but look under the surface and there’s much more to it. Chi’s situation is analogous to many people in Japanese society, nay, the world. Chi’s dream of returning home represents the naive aspirations we all had as children, dreams of becoming astronauts, accomplished artists, actors, rock stars, the list goes on. However, as we became accustomed to the comfortability of a 9 to 5 job with decent pay, sitting at a desk grinding through office work, we begin to slip into mundaneness. Despite the boring nature of the lives many of us lead, they’re comfortable lives that we have become more or less content with. Our dreams became lost on us and are now little more than a “I wonder what would have happened if…” dream simulation residing in the most secluded area of our minds, and soon the idea of taking risks to grab hold of your true desires becomes a stupid pipe dream.
…oh God, who am I kidding. They’re simple shorts with no substance about the daily life of a cute little kitten.

Guh….the damn thing is too cute.
Chi was a pleasant surprise after wasting my precious time suffering through To-Love-Ru raw (*brrr*).
>>…oh God, who am I kidding.
I love you, Shirukii.
I watched up to episode 4 of Chi’s Sweet Anime. Moving on from chicken to cats, things have been less stressful.

>> “I love you, Shirukii.”
o_O it can’t be!!!
@ Servbot: “Do You Remember Love?” I believe this is one of the best Macross theme song, even Macross Frontier still using the remixed of this song for ED. Not a big fan of Macross I only seen Macross Zero so far and looking forward to Macross Frontier.
Oh well……it might be a slow start to the season…….but we still have the finale of Bamboo Blade to look forward to :)
@ Totali: :3
@ Calawain: Seriously, my nutbladder is reaching critical levels.
@ ItAintEazy: What’s wrong with pointless fanservice =(?
@ lolikit: Right back at you <3 If only you were a girl, my search for true love would be over.
@ Servbot: I haven’t watched any of the Macross franchise, sadly. I have it all dled though, and I plan on watching Macross Frontier.
@ Kari: Careful, I hear (s?)he scratches.
@ Siva: lolikit and I share the manliest of internet bonds, after sitting through Kyousora together, nothing shall break them!
@ Kanon_fan82: MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEN! I just watched it, I love Lion-tan so much.
i actually downloaded this because this is one of the first things in the spring season that has premiered. i have to say that this is to effin cute for words… i cannot believe that this is actually 83 episodes long but i can kinda understand… i think i’m gonna keep watching it and DL-ing for future watch of my would-be children :D
>>If only you were a girl, my search for true love would be over.
You have no idea how many people tell me that. Bitches don’t know ’bout becoming gheeeeeeeey.
Also, Siva is totally jealous.
ItAintEazy: What’s wrong with pointless fanservice =(?
There’s pointless fanservice, and then there’s blatant cockteasing. Blue balls do not suit me.

I absolutely love Chi’s Sweet Home. I watch it with my young daughter. She can’t read yet so I read the subtitles to her. This is her favorite, she comes home from school and has to watch. It has been a perfect way for me to introduce my love of anime into my daughters life. We have shared laughs and tears together. Truly a bonding experience.
