Some of you may remember an entry a while back to promote the North American release of Appleseed Ex Machina. Well recently I was contacted again, this time about screenings of the movie this weekend, taking place in New York.

When:

Saturday, March 8th and Sunday, March 9th at 12:00 a.m.
Ie. Midnight screenings Friday and Saturday

Where:

IFC Center
323 Avenue of the Americas
New York, NY

Another awesome thing about these promotions is free stuff! Readers and commenters are the lifeblood of any blog and it’s always nice to be able to give back every once in a while.

As before, all you have to do to get a chance at winning the DVD is simply leave a comment on this post. On Sunday, a winner will randomly be chosen (yes, using the same shoddy random number generator used in the last giveaway) and their contact information will be passed along to the promotion coordinator who will mail the prize out.

I’ve always preferred watching CG movies at home on my computer, mostly because it feels more natural to do so, but from the previews floating around and from having watched the first movie myself, I think it would be a completely different and equally awesome experience watching it in a theater setting.

Edit: Picture of the DVD prize added and date corrected, thanks Kabitzin.

Back in January Fred Reckling sent me a message as well, but it was confusing and the showtime wasn’t in it. I took a wait and see attitude, hoping for a screening on my coast. They did after all show the first Naruto movie in L.A. I guess no such luck this time? I’m not jetting to NY even for this.

I’d be glad to see this for the animation alone. It’s amazing what kind of polish a few years can bring.

I have the picture of the Ex Machina art book I won from the last contest, but a family member borrowed my memory stick for a trip x_X

Btw, i’m fine if past contestants cannot be entered since the random number generator experience should be shared.

I have to say it’s looking a lot better than the previous appleseed. It didn’t look bad, but the CG needed some more polish.

I saw this movie on blu-ray, it’s totally awesome, first movie that is actually better then the first.

I remember watching the first Appleseed movie a few years back. Decent movie, nothing special. I picked it up because I like things with guns and mechas. Seen some of the manga chapters and I say the manga’s better. I heard they were originally planning to turn it into a 26 episode anime, but nothing more was heard after that (got canceled, most likely).

BTW, I just moved my blog to Wordpress. Update my link in your blogroll with this one.

Well, Appleseed was the first manga I ever read. And either the first or second anime (the other being BGC).

    Also, free stuff is cool.

I’ve never actually seen or read the original Appleseed, although I heard from a friend years back that it was really good. So is this a sequel? A new section of story that is just in the same universe? Not really sure, but the CG sure is pretty!

Never actually read or heard of Appleseed before. From the preview on the website, it seems to have much better CG than Vexille - 2077 Nippon Sakoku.

    Are you blogging this one?
