Clannad 18, BAAAAAAAW
February 15th, 2008 by Shirukii

Noooooooooooooooo
Well…damn. It’s not like I didn’t see this coming, everyone did, but that was far more heartbreak than I expected. I wanted to reach through the screen and give Ryou and Kyou a hug and tell them that everything is going to be alright ;_;
Episode Rating: 10/10

Not only is Tomoyo coming to Tomoya’s house everyday to wake him up, since he got suspended because of her, she starts to make him breakfast as well (fair trade off I suppose). But when Tomoya’s dad wakes up and accepts Tomoyo’s offer to join them for breakfast, Tomoya gets up, thanks her for the food and leaves. He heads over to Sunohara and decides to toy around with him to start off the day.

With the club president sick and Tomoya suspended, the drama club is in a lull, sitting around idly. Worried about how Tomoya is doing, Kyou and Ryou head over to see him and drag him outside for a bit. The three end up going to a game center and Kyou forces him to try one of those compatibility fortune telling machines with Ryou. Much good that does though, giving them the vague “friendship” result along with the sentiment that where things go from here depends on the feelings of the individuals. Afterwards, Kyou excuses herself and tells Tomoya to walk Ryou home, the two discussing their thoughts on fortune telling along the way, how every girl is inherently interested in it and how her predictions are always wrong. But Ryou thinks that’s fine, if her predictions were always right it would seem like there’s only one path to walk in life, whereas getting it wrong means there’s an element of chance for the future.

That Sunday, Tomoyo shows up, faithfully as always, this time cooking lunch for Tomoya. However, things get a little complicated when Ryou and Kyou show up, having made some food for Tomoya too. As if that weren’t enough, Kotomi shows with her share as well. With a mountain of food before him, made with the sincere feelings of all the girls in front of him, Tomoya is in a tight spot. The final blow is struck via Fuko cameo, who drops with some food of her own, various starfish shaped pastries. There’s no way out, even Ryou is pressuring him to eat the food she got up at 5 a.m. to make…
The following day, Tomoya’s suspension ends and he’s back in school, only with a massive case of heartburn from attempting (he couldn’t have possibly succeeded) to eat everyone’s dishes the day before.

With his return to school comes a rather unpleasant surprise, Tomoyo’s student counsel campaign isn’t going well, rumors of her gang involvement in her early school days are killing her chances of winning. Taking a page out of Sunohara’s book, Tomoya tries to shift the attention Tomoyo is getting by having her face off against various athletic clubs. Baseball, kendo, gymnastics, swimming, Tomoyo challenges them all with the promise that she’ll join them if she loses, soon everybody is in awe of her athletic prowess, a successful diversion from her gang reputation.

After school, Tomoyo thanks Tomoya for helping her turn her campaign around. The two walk home together and Tomoyo starts to talk about her past. She asks Tomoya what he thinks keeps people on the straight path in life, Tomoya responds first with talent, given talent you have motivation to succeed, failing that, perhaps love? Tomoyo thinks it’s family, Tomoya disagrees, an obvious reaction given his situation, but Tomoyo insists, saying that it need not be a real family, even friends are fine, as long as the elements which construct a family are present.
When Tomoyo was younger her parents didn’t get along well, let alone fight, they barely spoke to each other, even living in the same house. This led her to take her anger and resentment out on others, earning herself her gang slaying reputation. When her parents finally decided to get a divorce they began to argue over child custody, Tomoyo didn’t care much, but her brother didn’t want to family to split up and threatened to jump into a river if they didn’t call the divorce off, and surprisingly, he actually does it. His resulting hospitalization brought the family back together and when he was released, they all went to watch the sakura trees along the path to school bloom, a tradition they repeated every year. And that’s why Tomoyo wants to become student counsel president so badly, there’s currently a movement to cut down the sakura trees along that path despite opposition from residents and students, if she were to become student president, she could take action to preserve them.

The following day, Nagisa returns to school! Everyone is happy to see her back, but nobody more than Tomoya, who tries to play it cool but becomes a blushing mess when they talk for the first time in over a week.
Getting back to Tomoyo’s campaign, her next match up is against the tennis club. Tomoya and Nagisa sit on the sidelines on the coach’s bench, laughing it up and getting into the match. Kyou sees the two getting close and goes to intervene, but Ryou, with a pained look on her face, stops her. In the midst of the match, a ball goes stray and hits Nagisa in the leg, the tennis club member reaches for her arm to take her to the nurse’s office, almost instinctively, Tomoya slaps it away and takes her instead, without so much as a word to anyone else, he puts her arm around his shoulder and carries her off.
It doesn’t take a genius to read the atmosphere. Kyou tries to laugh it off, it was obvious all along, but one look at Ryou, on the verge of tears, and she can’t hold it in any longer, she breaks down with her sister, Tomoyo looking on, her feelings probably not too different.
The episode ends with a shot of the student counsel election results, President: Sakagami Tomoyo.
Thoughts

Argh, that was way more dramatic than I thought it would be. I take back what I said at the beginning of the series, KyoAni has upped their game this time around, they didn’t go for the one girl one arc formula, well, not after Kotomi anyways. They took the three major love based arcs and merged them into a believable race for Tomoya’s affection with a climactic end. It was also much more realistic than say, Kanon, where everyone walked away with a smile on their face, love isn’t like that, when one person is chosen over another, people get hurt, and I’m glad we got to see the ugly side of things. But damn Tomoya, how could that bastard pick Nagisa over Kyou, KYOU FFS!

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood, and sorry I could not travel both
But I’ve got to give it to him, he chose Nagisa from the start and stuck with his feelings. While he never made it clear to everyone else, (and perhaps he can’t even admit it to himself yet) he never wavered, even when presented with a free ticket to a Kyou buffet, he stood his ground. While I don’t think they’re the best couple, Tomoya and Nagisa do share a deep supportive bond, both owing a lot to the other, perhaps even dependent. No matter how much I wished against it or how much evidence was presented in favor of another ending, it’s been TomoyaXNagisa all along. Hell, even Kyou knew this, yet struggled against it.

Kyou’s tears were an interesting element to that last scene, not that it needed confirming, but it showed that she loved Tomoya as much, probably more, than her sister did. One doesn’t cry like that because your friend, or even family member lost a battle of love, those tears were for none other than herself.
I’m still rather curious about what Kyou was planning on doing all this time though. She was under the guise of helping her sister get with Tomoya, but she made it quite clear last episode that she wouldn’t mind stealing him away for herself, a tragic and, actually, stupid, position to put herself in (hasn’t she watched KimiNozo?). I can’t wait until Clannad is over so I can read the visual novel in full, I hear Kyou’s route is the worst of all of them, but her bad end is amazingly emotional, sure to leave you angsting for days, sounds fun.

Speaking of the visual novel, Tomoyo’s increased screen time further showed me why her fanbase is so huge, enough so to get her own spin off and manga. Perfect waifu material, athletic, loyal and hot in a completely different way than Kyou. Her past was rather surprising, I never would have thought she came from such a broken home, which in a sense makes her a nice match for Tomoya, having an idea of what he’s going through himself. Though, I’m a little ashamed to admit I lol’d at her brother trying to become an hero, but you have to admit, t’was pretty lame.

No comment.
I fear what will become of Clannad from here on in. With the re-establishment of the drama club and Nagisa’s return and flawless victory of the romance saga, what will happen to my weekly dosage of Kyou? Will she still stick around the club room despite knowing the battle is lost? She has way too much of a presence in the series to just cast aside like Kotomi, relegated to a few lines per episode, right? I loathe the possibility of KyoAni pushing aside the rest of the cast to focus in on the Nagisa-Tomoya dynamic. But on the other hand, after that final scene, it’d be weird to see Kyou, Ryou and Tomoyo returning to normal, they got owned in this little game of love, there must be underlying feelings of resentment towards Nagisa.
Meh, I guess we’ll cross that bridge when we get to it. For now, I’m nothing but praises for an amazing episode to follow up last week’s, which I was sure wasn’t going to be topped for the rest of the series.
Edit* Crap, no Clannad next week?

No new Clannad next week…we have to wait another 2 weeks to go for more progress. >_< I have to also admit to have chuckled a bit when Ryou's crying face all of a sudden appeared.
Also, I thought it would be interesting to point out that Tomoyo also seemed to be a bit depressed (though not as much as Kyou or Ryou) upon learning the reason behind Tomoya wanting to reestablish the Theater Club for Nagisa's sake.
Also, although 8 episodes seems to be a pretty big number, I still have to wonder how much they're going to fit so much story into that much space considering how much more things they need to cover, due in part to the fact that Show ▼
I’m hoping by the time the series is finished, the translation patch for the VN will be finished. Coincidentally, the day after February 28th (Episode 19’s air date) will be the release of the Clannad PC Full Voice VN, which is also supposed have an upgrade to computer graphics. Twiggy~ o.o
“I can’t wait until Clannad is over so I can read the visual novel in full, I hear Kyou’s route is the worst of all of them, but her bad end is amazingly emotional, sure to leave you angsting for days, sounds fun.”
There are two scene’s in her route that are heartwrenching and emotional. The rest of the arc is mediocre, but the end leaves you with a feeling that is something else.
I’m glad there is another blogger out there who really liked this episode and the way they are treating these routes. I have read quite a bit of negative reactions but I think this was a good way to do things. Like you said “It was also much more realistic than say, Kanon, where everyone walked away with a smile on their face, love isn’t like that, when one person is chosen over another, people get hurt, and I’m glad we got to see the ugly side of things.” While Kanon is one of my all-time favorites, I love that they did something different here. Both KyoAni and Key seem to take a similar type of material and create something completely different each time around. How often do you see such heartbreak all at once in these shows. In 30 seconds Tomoya just crushed three of them. Kyou is hit hardest obviously, but wow that was quite an emotional end.
“She has way too much of a presence in the series to just cast aside like Kotomi, relegated to a few lines per episode, right? I loathe the possibility of KyoAni pushing aside the rest of the cast to focus in on the Nagisa-Tomoya dynamic.”
While Kotomi’s character is balanced well and is included in the current run, with her previous personality traits, who knows with Kyou. Kotomi didn’t have a romantic attachment to Tomoya in the anime version, but Kyou certainly did. The main problem is timing, they have a lot of Nagisa to fit into 5 episodes.
They have yet to disappoint us so far, so I only have good predictions for the rest of the show =)
I think it’s pretty obvious that where Ryou kinda was crushing on Tomoya, Kyou had something much more approaching love. The ability to wish for his best with her sister is one point—I don’t think she was planning on “taking him from Ryou.” Then there’s the brief scene where Tomoya, supporting Nagisa, staggers past the twins. Ryou watches them go, but Kyou just stands there looking past everyone and everything, as if in shock, disbelief, like she can’t deal with what’s happening. Ryou can look; Kyou can’t.
I think that says a lot about the depth of her character.
Also, Kyou’s reaction upon realizing that Ryou knew she loved Tomoya this whole time is kind of epic. The skill level of this crying scene brought back recollections of Kannazuki no Miko. Coming from me, that means “fucking impressive.”
No ;___;
I hate how Nagisa leaves her a few days, AND BAM. Tomoya loves her, the end.
Some people are saying that is it defintely not the end of Kyou’s route…
Show ▼
Sigh, I hate how it was so plain obvious that he would end up with Nagisa.
No fun .___.
@Kaelyn
Kind of, it goes somewhere along the lines of…
Show ▼
Something like that.
I want a Kyou buffet….
I agree with RJ. Ryou really suddenly had a face full of tears after Kyou started crying. And Kyou did look grieved; Ryou looked like she was in torturous pain. So her expression was a little over-the-top unfortunately. I was already misty-eyed at that point anyway, but it did break the flow a bit.
Somehow I don’t think it will be there, but I would love to see a little bit of resentment in the next ep or so. Just to continue the realism just like these parallel arcs (I’ve enjoyed them, too).
*puts on cynical bastard hat*
Personally, if Kyou is going to go on with a pseudo-Sekai scheme and set up Tomoya in an awkward relationship with her sister, at least so she can experience Tomoya vicariously, at worst so that she can get closer to him, then she doesn’t deserve him at all. By stringing him along like that, she’s only going to end up hurting the both of them . . . okay, maybe just her sister, but you get my point.
NO! Don’t relate Sekai to Kyou D: D: D:
At least she didn’t sleep with him >> or do “special training”
Agreed on that.
Also, don’t indirectly compare Tomoya to Makoto. Tomoya is too GAR to succumb to his libido. He’d probably use such an occasion to play a trick anyway. ^^;
T_T Noooo!
Poor Kyou :(
And Ryou is an UGLY crier :P
And no epiisode till next week??? BOO-URNS!!!
Oh well, at least I have True Tears on sunday :D
@ Kaelyn:
Whether you like her or not, you have to admit that Sekai is an awesome character…..there have been very few characters in the animes I’ve watched so far that will actually ACTIVELY pursue their love interest instead of being all emo until the last few episodes.
The main reasons I like c l a n n a d this far were:
- Great animation by KyoAni, which is good for my eyes;
- Interesting mascots, and overkill too. I can hardly think of another title which has another mascots at the level of Starfish, Dango, and Botan put together;
- Character designs. Tomoya is GAR, OH GOD KYOU IS HOT, etc;
- Key is well known for its interesting and touching arcs, even the side characters, and thus..
- I’m curious which path KyoAni will choose, since they’re almost all interesting and are NICE END material indeed.
After watching episode 18:
- my Kyou fanboy soul died inside;
- I know it’s in the VN, yet Fuko is too disturbing.. I haet starfishes now -__-
- I felt that KyoAni put nice animations for Kyou (candy “eating”, gym, blush, etc) just to attract Kyou fans into watching their anime;
- Nagisa’s path’s pretty much confirmed.
At this rate, I might even stopped watching this anime ~_~ On the objective view, though, I admit that this episode has nice story developments and all, but, but! *cries along Fujibayashi sisters* I have already accepted the fact that it will be Nagisa’s end, but I don’t really like how KyoAni treat Kyou’s path like a..like a fanservice… Maybe KyoAni decided not to air the next episode next week to let the Kyou fanboys calm down and watch clannad again for moar Kyou…Which I’ll probably do >_>
btw, on the other hand, Tomoyo After manga’s story is really good.. That’s quite interesting..
It’s YOU AGAIN D:
Well, I do admire her determination, but her ways of pursuit is in bad taste. She knew what she was doing, and what her actions were despicable.
BUT
I respect your opinion, and your beliefs. I do not wish to turn this into a Sekai debate, because I don’t want to trouble Shirukii. I’m sure you wouldn’t want to either, neh? =]
One thing I forgot to put in…….Fuko’s cameos have got to go…..I laughed at the starfish-food motif……but on the whole, her appearances detract from the overall mood of the episode(s).
@ Kaelyn:
hahaha I’m not THAT bad honest ;)
I agree with you that Sekai’s methods were despicable……
maybe it’s just ’cause I’m a guy and would kill for some of that special training lol…
and let’s not forget that Sekai was the character who actually had the guts to kill Makoto and cause anime fans around the world to rejoice!!!!!! :)
and thank you for respecting my opinions :D……I respect yours too :D
Shirukii, I agree with alot of what was said in this post. It is another KyoAni quality episode. From the standpoint of someone who has never played the game, this episode still kept the plot together and focused.
However, considering that I’ve found out a good amount of what goes on in the game, it’s hard for me to completely undo the buildup of love towards Kyou. I’ll give a little bit of credit to KyoAni as they made a good number of us Kyou and Tomoyo fans in a relatively short time period.
Crisu, agreed. We need a Kyou buffet…
@ RJ: I’ll avoid that spoiler, but have a good idea of what’s behind it.
Speaking of Tomoyo, upon rewatching, she took that scene so well, you could see the disappointment in her eyes, but she remained calm and composed, just like her.
@ Calawain: Another thing I’m rather surprised at is how they all managed to get the message so quickly. The second they saw Tomoya go to help Nagisa, they knew it was over, all three of them. Contrast that to how usually anime characters need it to be laid out for them on a data spreadsheet to get the point across.
Looks like everyone here loved this episode, where are the haters? I skimmed some other blogs, not getting any particularly negative vibes.
@ lolikit: Oh the subtleties I sometimes miss and the way they make things so much better.
Though I don’t know if anything will ever top Chikane raep or the lesbian sword fight of KnM.
@ Kaelyn: That’s KeyAni for ya, but hey, at least they…sorta lead us to believe other wise, then brought reality back down on us, hard. An interesting way to go, as frustrating as it is.
@ Crisu: Ryou’s crying was pretty accurate I’d say, when humans cry, like…REALLY cry, we’re not the most pleasant of things to look at. Was a little weird looking though, I’ll give you that.
@ ItAintEazy: Haha, I love how you always play devil’s advocate, stirs things up.
It’s hard to pin blame in these cases, as it was in KGNE. You can’t help who you fall in love with, it just happens, or so we’re led to believe. Kyou surely felt bad for her sister for falling for Tomoya, but humans are selfish beings, so she continued along her path. Kyou is by no means perfect, but neither is Tomoya, and they made such a good couple because of it.
@ Kaelyn/Kanon_fan82: I’m going to stay out of this one haha. My capacity to discuss School Days is long gone. Having blogged all 12 episodes + Nice Boat and sifting through something like…400 comments on the series, I’m spent.
@ albert_2mb: I’m not sure why KyoAni decided to push the Kyou fanbase as much as they did. She is certainly an interesting character, my favourite by far, but that’s only because they devoted so much time to her. I’m guessing there was a huge positive reaction to her anime counterpart, so they gave her more time.
I saw spoilers of Tomoyo After’s manga. …wow, just…wow.
@ koneko-chan: Kyou buildup has been all series long, I’m shocked that they got me hooked on Tomoyo so quickly though.
haha, I think your point is true.. Kyou is too prominent, yet they don’t want to stray too much from Nagisa.. Episode 17 was the climax with the gym scene, and KyoAni finally decided “Okay, Kyouists.. You’ve had your fun. We’ll end it on 18..” or something like that..
Well, I still somehow hope that Fujibayashi sisters, or at least Kyou, still sticks around Tomoya. Maybe there’ll be some SURPRISE PLOT TWIST in the end lol, even though I’ll surely got mixed feelings on that..
I agree with y’all. I really like the way Kyoani handled Tomoyo’s arc and Kyou/Ryou’s arc because……well……that’s pretty much all there is with their arcs. Tomoyo is a little more better than Kyou and Ryou’s, but her route is still lacking compared to other routes like Fuuko or Kotomi because she is one of the routes that is too heavily romanced-themed, which isn’t fitting for CLANNAD. And that’s what made Kyou/Ryou the worst of all the arcs.
But just so you know, I’m not saying their arcs are bad (In fact, I think they are a tad better than most predictable romance stories) It’s just that the emotional impact from their arcs is nowhere near what Fuuko or Kotomi’s arc could give to us, especially in CLANNAD.
I think most negative comments about this episode are caused heavily by how little attention (i.e. episodes) is given to their so-called oh-so-awesome characters – Kyou and Tomoyo. But CLANNAD is not about romance, so this is to be expected. If you’re looking for serious romance drama, CLANNAD is definitely not one of them. I would suggest True Tears for that.
If you’re looking for serious romance drama, CLANNAD is definitely not one of them. I would suggest True Tears for that.
I…think you’re right.. “clannad” means “family” after all.. Haha, now I can finally see this anime series in a new light now. It’s just that I have only played Tomoyo, Misae, and Yukine’s paths in the VN, and all of them are heavily romantic, thus derailing(lol) my views when I see another arcs, which are heavily family-based (Fuko and her sister, Kotomi and her
three hiraganasparents, Tomoyo and her family). Now I can accept why KyoAni dedicated the early episodes to Fuko and Kotomi, while slashing in half Tomoyo’s arc and eliminating Kyou’s arc. It’s all for maintaining the original theme: CLANNAD.On a side note, I think I should start downloading True Tears. I don’t like the character design, but reading numerous NICE POSTs on it is really intriguing me lol.
@Kaeyln: Come on, you know she wanted it the last episode, but agreed, she’s not as bad as Sekai. Can’t imagine what Sekai would do in that gym storage room o_0
@RJ: Ugh, it pains me to think about that whiney-ass voice again. Agreed, Tomoya’s just can’t be in the same league as him. If anything he’s a lucky victim.
@Shirukii: there you go again, putting things in perspective. I guess it is more accurate to compare Kyou’s situation with Mitsuki’s. Ignorance of youth I suppose.
I’m going to stay out of this one haha. My capacity to discuss School Days is long gone. Having blogged all 12 episodes Nice Boat and sifting through something like…400 comments on the series, I’m spent.
Aha, so that’s why you refused to blog “Valentine Days”. Wakatta, wakarimashita :D
THOSE NAGISA BASTARDS. DANG IT.
Oh well, all I can say is that Tomoya you are an asshole for making my Kyou and Ryou cried. Even though, Tomoyo didn’t cry, but she probably pissed inside too. You have 3 great girls like Kyou, Tomoyo and Ryou and you pick Nagisa over them. No offense, Nagisa. Well, I know that I see this coming since the beginning of the series but I couldn’t help feel bad for both Kyou and Tomoyo since both are my favorite character. Other than that, I wish they don’t have Mei & Sonohara episode and instead have develop Tomoyo’ s arc slower and better than this. I felt that her arc was too rush.
All of you who is trying to compare with School Days, STOP RIGHT THERE. Do not even try comparing Kyou with Sekai unless you want to endanger your existence by the hordes of Kyou fanboys. Yes, I had to borrow the phrase, and incidentally, Kyou lovers consist of approx. 30% of the voters according to the recent poll on this blog.
I’ll sum it up with one sentence.
Kyou >>>>>>>>>>>>> Sekai.
There. This discussion is over.
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!
damn that nagisa.. Tomoyo was coming over his house and everything and owning everyone till she came back T.T
Tomoyo FOREVER!!!
Funny, I don’t remember Nayuki having a smile on her face.
In any case, Nagisa is unbeatable? Unbeatable like the NE Patriots, perhaps. Kyou will win after Tomoya discoveres he only likes Nagisa’s non-dysfunctional family and not her.
Well, I just have to say that this is one of the best KyoAni episodes I’ve seen. Air 12. Mai’s arc. Last episode of Haruhi. I’ve just amazed on how well they do their jobs.
Nagisa will lose. Fuko is the best choice. Best choi…
Shirukii, I doubt anyone but the most clueless could fault this episode, lol (bar those who played the game, but that’s a different kettle of fish). Truly one of the best episodes so far.
I’ve also been looping the image song, Over, for a few hours already, and it’s excellent — check out the Clannad Image Vocal Album Sorarado if you’re interested in listening to the full version. Highly recommended. It’s remixed in the same way they did Kaze no Shoujo in Fuuko’s last episode, so the song is basically an elongated version of Kyou’s theme.
Some thoughts:
* Am I the only one who thought that the song playing while the Fujibiyashi sisters cried did not fit the scene *at all*? Couldn’t they have at least dropped the volume a bit more during their bawlfest?
* An uninformed student observer to the tennis match would see the following: Tomoya Okozaki, self-proclaimed delinquent, leaves the tennis match with Nagisa Furukawa. This causes Tomoyo Sakagaki and Kotomi Ichinose to become visibly depressed, and this also causes the Fujibiyashi sisters to cry. This would lead the uninformed student to one of the following conclusions:
1) Tomoya is about to do something *very wrong* to Nagisa. Something *very wrong* that he did to the other four girls. Clearly, he must be stopped.
2) Tomoya is a heartless playboy. Clearly, he must pay for what he did to four of the school’s idols.
I predict that this will dramatically increase Tomoya’s delinquent status. I further predict that, sometime between now and the end of the series, someone will punch Tomoya in the face. I don’t think he deserves it, but I’ve the sinking feeling that it will happen.
* Comments in other blogs have provided links which discuss the possibility of Clannad going to 52 episodes due to its labyrinthian plot. If this occurs, then Show ▼
* Kyou in jeans. That defeats my “Shedding Layers” theory in a previous post.
* CURSE YOU, SOCCER!
W4:
* Am I the only one who thought that the song playing while the Fujibiyashi sisters cried did not fit the scene *at all*? Couldn’t they have at least dropped the volume a bit more during their bawlfest?
I thought it was very well done and appropriate. The lyrics were bittersweet and the tempo matched what was going on the screen.
1) Tomoya is about to do something *very wrong* to Nagisa. Something *very wrong* that he did to the other four girls. Clearly, he must be stopped.
2) Tomoya is a heartless playboy. Clearly, he must pay for what he did to four of the school’s idols.
I lol-ed really hard while facepalming myself when I read this. Amazing plot twist! XD
About the Fujibayashi path, I still haven’t played their path in the VN, but IIRC Show ▼
@albert_2mb
Yes, you are correct Show ▼
Hmm, if that’s true, I’d like for that person to make an appearance in the anime series. That would at least promote the storyline with the Fujibayashi sisters, since I wouldn’t like it if next episodes are going to be Nagisa x Tomoya exclusive.. also: Show ▼
Tomoyo got nice episode time. I think my favorite part was when she was trying to get Tomoya to eat her food whilst arguing with Kyou.
And then of course there was the flashback. I really liked this one.
Takafumi is alright. He’s got a pretty genki personality in Tomoyo after.
And I agree Shirukii
too bad that the series will likely be focusing Nagisa’s and Kyou’s routes so she won’t get as much time now. I Imagines Kyoani’s going to have devote the last 4 episodes to her. Leaving only 2 for the rest. DAMN THE 2 OVERLY LONG ARCS
…..Once again
Here’s to praying for a Tomoyo After OVA
ah!! no clannad next week? what a bummer. kyou’s candy scene was adorable, as was the “food” fiasco–is it wrong that i think that tomoya’s a total wimp? i could have TOTALLY taken down that table, and i’m a female!
When episode 19 will be released??
@Mamoru: Thursday night in Japan, Friday morning / midday subbed by Sprocket & The Waffle House or Static Subs & Eclipse
You know what..? why is everybody crying for that Nagisa and Tomoya are in love for? they should know by now thats the cannon one.
Now its your opinions to support the couple but not say ”oh no why did she come back for” she and him make a cute couple >.
Esty: Screw the canon, everyone rather have their own fantasies fulfilled damnit. Its anime after all.
