Valentine’s Day is a stupid prefabricated Hallmark holiday, couples are forced to display their love materialistically, the single+looking are depressed, reminded of their loneliness, and the single+content lament the existence of such a useless holiday or ignore it altogether. Fucking pointless.

The Hallmark is a lie!
I broke up with my girlfriend a week ago. Am I supposed to feel elated for the recent freedom? It’s a mixed feeling.
The only feelings I need are the ones I get when Kyou appears in Clannad. You know….

I guess i fall into the last category. However I do acknowledge the whole valentine thing in a neutral-positive sense.
I think there’s a fine meaning of this day for those who are fortunate/doomed enough to be able to exploit their other halves. For those who don’t (like me and you), it’s just another every-so-normal day. No need to lament about it, bad for health.
Materialistic, indeed. But without the sentiment there wouldn’t even be any “material” to begin with. I think it’s just one of the many ways to express it. Really it’s the merchants to be blamed for the commercialistic mood. (Think anime, what makes some anime so exhausting to watched?)
Alas, in anycase, blessings to those lucky couples.

According to Vonnegut’s Bokonism, we walk through life in pre-determined groups. You may come across someone in your karass (group) whom you are meant to be with and whom you are destined to do something with. It may come at any time and is left up to you to determine but dont let your guard down. I dont know if it applies to 2D though o_O
If you dont understand, read “Cat’s Cradle”…even though it is a book about the end of the world.
As for me, I am enjoying the company of a lovely lady later today after work so sorry guys. As a consolation, I doubt ill be receiving confectionary… and chocolates cause pimples anyways. But I will be having crab cakes and filet mignon medallions for dinner!
Next week though is President’s Day for those who celebrate it.

And consider this: the next episode of “Clannad” airs tonight, and — as you’ve probably already noticed — Kyou’s been appearing more *and wearing less* as the anime progresses. If that doesn’t give you the strength to get through the day, then they’ll have to revoke your Kyou fanbase privileges.
Sigh…
I just don’t get why people hate it so much. I used to be one of those guys—depressed, bitching and moaning about how sucky Valentine’s day was. And it does suck, a little. It is a hallmark holiday, and it is about materialism, etc. etc. But why hate it? People get to celebrate; it’s an event to pull us away from the boredom of the day-to-day world that’s slowly tearing itself apart.
I think… I think it’s wonderful.

And I don’t hate Valentine’s Day, I hardly think about it at all. The only good thing I noticed about it today is getting free chocolate that some political party was distributing at the station.

Feh, I’m just glad we don’t celebrate White Day over here. Now THAT’S consumerism gone mad. As for me, I work nights, so I don’t have a life even if I wanted to, but thanks for reminding me that I do have to send my regards to someone :^)
