24 Inches of Beauty

No, this isn’t a post on futanari
Ignoring all financial repercussions, I went ahead and bought the new Dell 2407WFP-HC 24″ wide screen monitor.
I had planned on waiting until around Christmas time for the price to drop but my friend offered me one for $650 CAD (~$620 USD) taxes included. Normal price on Dell’s site is $749.99 (~$715.00 USD) plus tax, so I wasn’t about to turn down a price cut of around $200.
Sorry in advance for the not so great pictures, I’m not exactly a professional photographer, nor do I have the equipment to supplement my lack of photography talent =(
OH GOD SHANA IS HOT x2
My old monitor is a 20.1″ Viewsonic VX2025wm and when I first got them side by side I noticed a huge difference in every aspect; brightness, picture quality, contrast, etc. The Dell is vastly superior.
The various features of the monitor itself are nice as well. Aside from the 1920*1200 native resolution, you get things like picture in picture, picture by picture to toy around with, not that I think they have much use unless you have a TV tuner or something, still fun to play around with though. The monitor also has great height adjustment, swiveling and even the ability to rotate 90° sideways into portrait mode (useful for reading manga).
An added bonus of getting the new monitor is that now I have a dual monitor set up, and after just two days with it, I refuse to ever go back to using a single display. The practicality of multi-monitor setups is surprising. Being able to watch anime and have things like msn, Firefox and uTorrent in your peripheral vision is a godsend. All made easier by UltraMon, which lets you have dedicated taskbars on secondary monitors as well as useful hotkeys for things like instantly sending windows to the monitor of your choice.
The monitors are being run off an ATi 1900XT video card which thankfully supports dual DVI outputs so I didn’t have to spend any money on a second card.

That’s hot. (get it? Shana and the monitor and………ok…)
Good purchase. I’ve got the Dell 2407WFP, which is basically the same thing. I really like this monitor.
I can’t really remember what’s the difference from the 2407WFP and 2407WFP-HC.
Wow, awesome, another anime fan who has a g15 keyboard and now a 24″ monitor :D.
Grats!
Wow, awesome monitor. Great buy and at a better price ^-^. I use my laptop for everything due to constant moving from home, work, and school, which results in no change in screen size for me lol. I love your wallpaper, SHANA FOREVER ^-^.
Hot damn, I want something like that for my desktop. Even though I have money, I prefer to save it for other things. Perhaps in a few months.
Nice setup with those monitors, the keyboard and an MX Revolution mouse. XD
Cool! Really great monitors,Shirukii! I’m happy for ya! (^o^) [thumbs upX2]
I just got a new 19″ monitor, and now you make me want moar :V
Nice monitor. ;) Much more awseome than my slightly large, but still awesome, Sony Triniton Monitor (17”). Love the wallpaper.
@ Totali: I totali get what you did there.
@ scottfrye: They’re essentially the same monitor, the only noticeable difference is that the -hc has a higher contrast, allowing for more color ranges to be displayed. I don’t think anyone would be able to tell the difference unless they were side by side though.
@ Nemykal: Thanks! The g15 is an awesome keyboard.
@ AS: I had considered getting a laptop instead of this desktop when I first went to university, but since I’m a gamer, the power of a desktop over a laptop for the same price was hard to ignore.
@ Adun: There were probably much wiser things to spend my money on, but I still think this was a justified purchase XD
@ Ravage: I’m a Logitech fanboy, lol.
@ Brian Woon: Thanks! Btw, what happened to your occasional anime posts =(?
@ Zeroblade: Start saving =D? It only took me about a week and a half worth of working for me to save up enough to buy this.
@ xXMikotoNakadaiXx: Sony still makes computer displays? I thought they bailed out of that business a while ago.
Also, would anyone be interested in seeing a Wallpaper section for this site? It would basically just be an image dump for nice wallpapers I’ve found.
@ Shirukii:
*Wipes drool* That is one awesome monitor :)
This finally gives me the motivation to go to Canada computers and start building :)
And yes, I second a wallpaper section :)
MY GAWD! THAT’S AWESOME! lol yes… im jelous…
Would be awesome if you added in a wallpaper section. I love the ones you used for your new monitor.
Holy. Freaking.Crap.
I don’t know much about…stuff like that, but it looks pretty xD
Hope you get money soon~
And nice new layout ^^
i will nv believe it.. we’re using the same wallpaper! LOL. yeah .. my screen is only a miserable 14 inch >.> its a lappy T_T
i would like having that wallpaper section shirukii~~~ those computer-screens looks fiiiiiiine ^____^;;; btw, how long did you have that other one actually? o______O;;;; i thought flat screens doesn’t last that long compared to the great bulky monitors =XXXXXX i could be wrong though U______U;;;;;;
Shirukii: Sorry. I’ve been kind of busy but i’ll post something soon. That’s a promise! (^__^) Hope you’ll keep supporting me!
@ Kanon_fan82: Go for it! It’s too bad the price gap between 22″ and 24″ is as huge as it is, or I would have tried to squeeze a 2407 into your build.
@ snoopydon: Jealous maybe, but with $650 more than I had a week ago, lol.
@ Inuyoukai: I guess I’ll get started on that then.
@ Hopey: Haha, thanks. I’m not really in any shortage of money, but $650 for a university student is a painful amount to let go of. Glad you like the layout ^^
@ zenical: Which wallpaper? The one on my 24 or 20? In either case, they’re great wallpapers, I could stare at Shana all day =D
@ twsl: I’ve had the other monitor for just about a year now and it still displays with the same quality as it did the day I got it. But the Dell is just so much better.
@ Brian Woon: Always :3 I look forward to it!
this monitor and dual monitor will be my plan in the future. but at least we r both ur the same mouse, right now.
About Shana, those pics r kool, and wow there r alot of Shana’s fans around here, i heard that anime was a good one maybe i should give Shakugan no Shana a try and i just know that Shakugan no Shana 2 is coming October 2007.
I have the same monitor (Dell 24″) and I must say it was the best investment I’ve ever made towards my computer. Good to see you’ve got one too! These displays are such gorgeous pieces of work. :D
Oh and I’m all for a wallpaper section here too!
The HC in the name of the display stands for High Colour. The displays with HC tagged on the end have the ability to accurately display a wider range of colors.
