New Rebuild of Evangelion Footage

Now with 100% moar Kaworu.

The first movie should hit theaters on September 1st, so for those lucky enough to be living in Japan there’s less than a month’s wait. I haven’t heard any dates for DVD releases, so no clue how long the rest of us will have to wait.

    I’m surprised, if anything, how little different this new footage looks (aside from a few CGI flourishes). Maybe it’s to appeal to old fans who know the original version inside out–like me–but I’m hoping it’s not just a plain old rehash with nothing very new added.

    I am getting more and more excited about this movie. I can’t wait however long we are going to have to for the dvds!

    I agree with Mike on the looks…they just look like polished versions of the classic…not that I mind that at all. Newtype is constantly saying that the new movies aren’t going to be “just a remake” and Kaworu playing a bigger role should be proof of that already. I’m eager to see what they’re going to do. xS

    @ Mike & Totali: I’ll be appeased either way. If there’s no new content then it’ll be great to kick back and watch an accelerated version of NGE with amazing animation. And if there happens to be new content, then all the better.

    @ Hinano: How is the NGE manga anyways? I’ve always wanted to buy it but thought the anime did well enough in fleshing out the story. I hear the manga has more of a Rei bias, as opposed to the anime’s Asuka bias though.
