If you overlook the inherent fail that is Shinji, this movie looks like it’s going to be awesome.

Then again, even if it sucks, Gainax will still rake in the cash from the countless NGE fans out there that religiously praise it.

EDIT* For those that are interested, the song is a cover of Fly Me to The Moon by Utada Hikaru.

i see, u praise this one that much and even heard from many countless people who said that this NGE is great and u even gave it S+. Maybe i have no choice but to list it on my list now, lol, i really want to see how great NGE is.

Shivers went down my spine when I saw the city rising up in all its detailed, CG’ed glory. This will be better.

“If you overlook the inherent fail that is Shinji”
I agree. But what about him (being wimpy?)

The trailer shows off the awesome CG of the film, I think it’s great to see Eva get some technical updates.

I especially love the way they’ve done the Angels (Sachiel and Bardiel can be see in the trailer) and it still doesn’t rule out the possiblity of some new ones. The reflections on Bardiel are really cool, and the animations of Sachiel are really fluid. I have to admit my interests in Evangelion originated from the designs on the Angels.

At least Shinji looks more mature compared to the anime. I am a fan of NGE but this will probably make its way to the US a few years after it comes out in Japan, so I will probably find a subbed version maybe a few months after its release in Japan.

I wonder what ending they are going to go with… the original from the series or from the movie The End of Evangelion…. either way i cant wait

  6. on 14 Jul 2007 at 3:23 pmIda

I had a big stupid grin on from it started to it ended. Can’t wait to see this.

@ Siva: It’s one of those anime that most fans consider a must watch. Whether you like it or not, NGE is discussed every now and then, pick a side and join the everlasting flamewar!

@ Owen S: That scene did the exact same thing to me, it was beautiful.

@ Avisch: Yea, pretty much. In the 11 years since NGE I still haven’t seen a wussier lead.

Bardiel floating over the lake and reflecting everything was breathtaking, I can’t wait to see it fall.

@ AS: Shinji did look a little less of a hopeless kid in the trailer, but NGE probably wouldn’t work as well if he had any measure of GAR, so I doubt his personality changed.

@ Riko: They’re probably going to go with the EoE ending, I don’t see them doing CONGRATULATIONS again ever again.

@ Ida: Ditto, especially with Hikki’s version of Fly me to the Moon playing in the background.

Maybe its time for me to finish my perfect grade Eva kit since I left it at its frame stage after finishing the anime a few years back…

Maybe ill rewatch the series and then rewatch some Aim for the Top! 1+2 to counter the mood.

    Cheers!

@Shirukii: would you suggest me a must-watch anime?

  10. on 14 Jul 2007 at 11:44 pmShirukii

@ Servbot: Wow, you’re the only person I’ve ever seen to refer to Gunbuster as that.

@ Siva: I can’t think of many series that I’d label -MUST- watches, but here are some ones I think shine in their respective genres.

    Comedy: Azumanga Daioh
    Shounen: Cowboy Bebop
    Mystery: Monster
Slice of Life: ARIA, Honey & Clover, AIR
    Romance Drama: Kiminozo? Maybe.
    Mecha: NGE, FMP?

1- Trust me, they are NOT going with the CONGRATULATION again… are they? *whimper*

2- God i hated Shinji. And yet, without him, what would NGE be i wonder.

3- Might be a bit early but Id add Claymore to your Shounen must watch. Not a MUST yet but getting there pretty fast.

Also, watch Death Notes till “L”’s death, THAT is a MUST imo (i didnt like it after L died tho).

Another *****MUST****: Dead Leaves (altho i got no clue how itd fit your classification heh).

And of course, if you havnt watched the Ghost in the Shell/ Ninja Scroll classics, you need to be slapped.

I’ll reply u back once i finished anyone of them. Most of them i used to heard it was a best series like Cowboy Bebop, AIR, ARIA, NGE and FMP.

@Erv: Im really sry to tell u this but i have never heard anyone ever mentioned about Dead Leaves at all so far and this is my first time i heard this tittle. For Ghost in the Shell, i couldnt finished one ep of its when it was on my tv, Could u point me out where do i miss the point of it? For Ninja Scroll, i have seen its movie and it was a good and enjoyable movie but i havent seen the anime series yet.

  13. on 16 Jul 2007 at 4:51 pmErv

    @Siva
Srry to have mixed you up, i was talking about anime in general, which includes movies for me. Dead Leaves is a 90 min movie from KickAssAnime that came out in 2004. Its about as far from traditional anime as anime can get, hence my comment on not knowing how to classify it. It is imo the best anime movie of the decade, both in scenario (you have to love absurd stuff tho) and in image (which is quite something on its own). I highly recommend you take a look at it (I got it by torrent, but dont remember from were, just google it).

Also, about GitS i personally didnt like the TV shows too much either. The movies tho are another story. 2nd > 1rst but thats just imo. As for Ninja Scroll its not the best out there, but definitly A classic worth watching for cultural value alone.

    Who sings the song?
And from what soundtrack can i get it from.

  15. on 16 Jul 2007 at 6:06 pmShirukii

@ rudol’ph: The song is a cover Fly Me to the Moon sung by Utada Hikaru. Lucky for you I have it, I uploaded it to rapidshare, I’ll post the link in the post.

    thanks

  17. on 16 Jul 2007 at 6:55 pmrudolph

Sorry for asking again is there a lot of difference between the
    original and the mix.

  18. on 16 Jul 2007 at 7:02 pmShirukii

If you mean the mix compared to the original that Utada sang a few years back, no, not that much. She sang it with a little more passion and they remastered the sound, but other than that it’s essentially the same.

But the most well known version of Fly Me to the Moon is sang by Frank Sinatra and sounds very different from Utada’s version, Sinatra’s original recording of it was in the 60s, so the style is very different. The song has since been covered countless times.

As a matter of fact, the original Evangelion series used a different version of the song for each of its 26 episode’s EDs.

Really thanks again and know i’m off the hear my new song of utada.
