I came.

Many thanks to Aurelia, who informed me in my previous Kyousora post that the KaonXHimiko episode was NOT the first of the DVD specials.

I now consider these DVD specials the main highlight of Kyousora. They are infinitely better than the main series, mainly due to appearance of Kazuya, the incarnation of faggotry.

Timeline wise, this episode predates the events of the main series. It deals with the relationship between Setsuna and Kyoshiro as master and weapon.

Those who watched the series know that mana is passed from master to absolute angel via kissing (Because J-J-J-JAM IT IN was already taken). However, the exchange leaves the master’s energy drained, causing potential harm. To avoid hurting her beloved Kyoshiro, Setsuna starts to feed off the mana of the unsuspecting students of Academia. But such methods are against Kyoshiro’s morals, being one of those ‘kind and gentle, etc etc.’ type person.

Setsuna starts crying and apologizing profusely at the idea that she did something to anger Kyoshiro. While indeed angry, Kyoshiro knows that Setsuna was only thinking of him, so to cheer her up he gives Setsuna his most prized possession, a pair of bells given to him by his brother which have always acted as a guide through life to him.

Setsuna cheers up and reaffirms her position as Kyoshiro’s sword, his absolute angel and supports his goal, even if it means her own death in the end. With a forced smile on his face, he agrees that the destruction of the absolute angels is his ultimate goal, almost ashamed to look at Setsuna’s blissful smile.

Although lacking the awesomeness that is the Chikane and Himeko pairing, this special was great in its own rights. I always liked Setsuna, despite her being a complete doormat. Completely subservient girls in anime are nothing new, but throughout the series I built up a lot of sympathy for Setsuna. She loved Kyoshiro, but knew she couldn’t be with him because she was an absolute angel, yet along comes Kuu, also an absolute angel, and Kyoshiro falls in love with her instead.

And although it was shallow, at least the origins of her bells were revealed.

Eh, who am I kidding, it was all about the hair <3

Unfortunately her fashion sense is up there with that of such famous people as Maebara Keiichi and Mayuko.

I’d search for the DVD specials as well, but I’m too lazy, plus I’ve burnt the series off already. Well this one looks to be a nice special and with the focus on Setsuna, it makes it even better.

@ lolikit: Sad but true. But her hair is up there with such famous people as Mikami.

@ Adun: The specials are great, they add that extra dimension to the characters that we never got to see in the main series. The true test will be if they do with Kuu, her character is so shallow that I can’t think of anything that would add depth to her personality.

    >>they add that extra dimension to the characters that we never got to see in the main series.

Because the main series was so busy doing other things, you see…

    … er, what? XP

    Main series did nothing D= Up to episode 6 was all an excuse for lesbian fanservice and Kuu fantasizing about Kyoshiro. After that it seemed like the storyboard writers just sat up and realized “OH SHIT, we have no idea what the hell we’re doing.” and decided to throw in Kazuya ;_;

These specials aren’t exactly delving deep into the histories of the characters, but at least we’re getting something XD

Or at least that’s what I’m trying to convince myself…

But really all you’re doing is wasting your time. Same goes for ZnT, by the way. The shit is shitty.

They’re only 5 minutes anyways, good for a quick watch rather than sitting around doing nothing much anyways.

ZnT is a guilty pleasure, I like it in the same way I like Nagasarete Airantou, for apparently no reason at all.

Where can I find this special?! I have been looking for the specials forever!!

Okay…let me try this again without being a complete arsehole…

Thanks for sharing the details and pictures with everyone; though I still can’t find this special(I found the other one

@ TheChichiSlaughterHouse: Haha, sorry, I rarely check old posts for comments. The only way I notice them is if they show up in the list of new comments on the admin login, but if it gets buried past that, no such luck.

I do have the special, but unfortunately I was asked not to distribute it. I will pass on your e-mail (assuming you entered your real one into the e-mail field XD) to the person who sent it to me and ask if she wouldn’t mind sending it to you as well.

And for the record, you weren’t acting like an ass, quite civil actually.

Can I have the special too? Prior to reading this, I’ve been looking for download links like mad but failed :( Thanks!

  12. on 18 Jul 2007 at 9:46 pmShirukii

@ Seiji: For the same reason I stated above, I can’t give it to you personally, and at this point I’ve received quite a few requests via e-mail for the special. I don’t want to bug the sub group to send it to each individual person.

So what I’ve done is e-mailed Moyism, a well known distributor of raws and asked him to find the special and upload it onto Tokyo Toshokan. So hopefully he manages to find it and you’ll see a raw on there soon, and probably subs soon after that.

If you want to get it asap, you could try using Share or WinNY to find it.

Thanks for the reply. Ahhh.. Moyism! I was wondering why he uploaded the DVD Special 3 to tokyotosho but not the Setsuna x Kyoshiro one XD
    thanks anyway

Oh! Thanks Shirukii! ^___^ (my post got cut off half way through on my apology…weird)

Yes; it’s my real email ^^; I wouldn’t leave a fake one because thenm how would I get a response, eh? =)

I completely understand not distributing things…I ask people to do it for some of the stuff I share (nothing this cool, however), so I don’t mind ^^ I haven’t had an email yet, and if I don’t get one, I don’t think I’ll mind too much. I know you’ve tried and I’m very grateful!

What my other post was half-way through saying was that I agree with you on Setsuna’s hair; it is awesome ^_^
