Wow, FMP yaoi, well played KyoAni, well played.
So Lucky Star has actually been pretty decent lately, there are still a lot of scenes that don’t come near to anything I would classify as funny, but the counterbalance of funny scenes is stacking up pretty well.
Awesome-kun is awesoooome
Most of the funny scenes seem to revolve around either Awesome-kun (kona’s dad), Kagami or Konata. Not that I hate Tsukasa or Miyuki, but they’re not that funny, or at least not to me.
And of course there’s Akira, her appearance via cardboard cutout was lulz. It would be hilarious to see Sebastian outrank her in character polls, but I’m pretty sure Akira would kill him off herself if that were to happen.
Seeing as I don’t usually do Lucky Star posts, you must be wondering wth the point of this random one is. Well, I bring you sad news (well, actually it’s only a rumor at this point) it seems that [a.f.k.] has dropped Lucky Star. But so far it’s just hearsay from forums and 4chan. Whether it’s true or just some idiot trying to start fansub drama is unknown at this point.
But even if it is true, all is not lost, as we know from Death Note, one fansub group’s death leads to the birth of two more in its place. Although the subs are a little less refined than afk (see above), they get the job done and anyone who made it through elementary school English should be able to piece together what they’re saying.
Fansub drama ftl. Apparently there was a rumor that it was going to be announced that L*S would be licensed at Anime Expo, so afk waited until that rumor cleared to release the subs. Blah.
Needs MOAR line separation.

Glad to see Lucky Star picking up again. But how did you ever chance upon THOSE subs? afaik a.f.k hasn’t dropped lucky star…
I’m not sure how much is rumor and how much is truth, and truthfully, I’m too lazy to go to their irc channel and confirm it myself =D

I get both [a.f.k.] and EnM/EnA of Lucky Star ^_^;;
One has quality translations with color and smaller encoding while the other one has good translations and bigger + smoother encoding.
I usually am able to watch the same episodes twice this way since the releases are separated by days and other anime.
Awww no fair lol, I have been waiting for Lucky Star and it hasn’t come out for where I usually go lol. I will wait though…it will make it all the sweeter. Nice to here that the show is picking up again. Episode 11 really went downhill except for the electric shot portion.
@ Servbot: I’ve never been able to watch a L*S episode more than once D= Most of the funny is in the surprise delivery of the jokes.

Dude, the last screencap is a wall of text. Too bad Akira was sick and it was funny they got her, uh, ‘official appearance’ in the main series replaced with a cardboard cutout.

I see you used a script that was mentioned on our channel in IRC (I pretty much openly paste URLs for the workscripts on our channel, so I doubt it’s a leak in the prime way 笑). I just want to say that it was far from final. All the cutting and probably typesetting / TLC / editing is done last :/
Anyways, thanks for having an interest in my subs, and, just that it is known that those subs *are* updated (quite many times, actually) – you can check the official last revision @ the site. I’m not against people using workscripts from the channel, but they should not be taken as final >_>
My scripts might suck in your opinion, but please – review them on the “release” version.
@ JEEB: Ah, don’t get me wrong, your subs were more than adequate. Having a decent grasp of the Japanese language, often all I need is a rough guide as to what they’re saying, I can piece most of it together. In this way I was grateful that your subs came out much before a.f.k’s.
I also misunderstood the “thankyourullymuch” line, after watching it again I see why you chose to sub it that way. Her speech was largely informal and slurred, which makes sense in the context. As for the line separation, that was just nitpicking.
If I gave off the impression that I thought your subs/scripts sucked, I’m sorry because that wasn’t my intention at all =P good luck with the rest of the series!
@Shirukii: Hehe, I must admit I’m afraid to use the word “like” or anything like that when talking about my scripts. Because there’s always the chance of someone saying “There’s no way I’d like your subs :P” – which would hurt me pretty deep actually (at least now, when I’ve gotten a group behind me, checking of the grammar and all…). So, no, I didn’t really see any such real negative impressions about my subs, it’s just how I begin writing usually.
And, since I promote opinions that are based on something – I would’ve not even hate it if you wouldn’t like my subs ^^. That’s completely up to you. So my comment was more about the incompleteness factor than anything else.
