As I was browsing through my ongoing series in my anime folder, I suddenly remembered about this series.

It has a halfway decent plot about a girl so shy that she loses her voice in front of crowds, and through a series of consequence ends up joining a drama club. It has a great cast of characters, Mugi in particular (pictured above) being full of lulz and general win, and a supporting cast with tons of comedic potential. It even has mild yuri undertones!

About the only thing it is missing, at this point, is fansubs! Episodes 1 and 2 were subbed by HgM, a new group with no completed titles to their name, but whose quality was pretty good. But after that, nothing, we’re up to episode 11 in raws but nothing past 2 has been subbed T_T

I tried to raw a couple of episodes, but I found myself missing chunks of convo here and there, and while it’s possible to fill in the rest reading episode summaries on blogs, the effect just isn’t the same.

So uh…not wanting to make this post sound like a senseless rant, I now issue a plea to fansub groups everywhere: SOMEONE PLEASE SUB HITOHIRA!

Now we can only hope that fansubbers are part of the reader demographic of this blog…

Open Source Subs, I have this crazy idea about OSS, but it would probably be shut down by every copyright organization within a week.

    Rough form:
Website dedicated for the components of a fansub group, though one doesn’t need to be associated with any particular group; skills will show.

Multiple versions of subtitles for an episode, with distinct timings to specific raws.

Select the subtitle version ( fonts, colorings, w/e), raw version (timings will be adjusted by the server), filter pack (customized by OSS encoders), and codecs+containers( MKV H.264 w/e).

So this all gets selected, and then click [Submit] and the server exports job to some super-fast computer which will encode the package (unless already customized previously by another user), and in about 1-2 hours the server will load up a torrent for the new encode and serve it for the user [ or users wishing for the same customization ].

    RSS yea.
    Here’s hoping for subs. ^^

i feel your pain on the lack of hitohira fansubs and i third the call for hitohira subs…
i’ve also been following this raw while reading summaries but the effect is just not the same than when you can understand everything…

I agree with this. Hitohira always seemed like a good show to me, I wonder why no one bothered subbing it. She’s mute, so that must be moe enough, right? ):

@ voodoomage: I hope. It seems like sometimes the better the show, the slower the subs. Another example of the top of my head would be Hidamari Sketch.

@ Ryan A: That sounds like a decent idea, but think of the cost to maintain a server that would be releasing so many iterations of an episode, the bandwidth consumption would be enormous. I think the best we could hope for is a place where people are free to post scripts or upload .ass/.srt/.sub files and leave the encoding, timing and QC to whoever feels like doing so. But even then we’d probably see a lot of versions of the same ep on TT.

@ kaz3phyrous: Are you caught up on the raws? Does the series get better or worse? I stopped at episode 4.

@ Owen S: Everything and anything can be considered moe =\

in my opinion it gets better…
the sieyuus really did a great job voicing the characters…
i especially liked kawasumi ayako’s role in this one, mugi’s va also did a great job….
chiwa saito even had a minor role and i didn’t know it was her…
for me it’s a great series… i wouldn’t mind putting this to my “favorite anime” list… it’s not too late to catch the raws and you can always refer to hashihime’s summaries… i can bet my non-existent reputation that it gets better after episode 4…

    すまん。

I’ve had this half-finished script for ep 3 sitting around for… a few weeks now, at least… and I just finished it off last night, so I really had no excuse in the first place.

Anyway, we’re shooting for a release sometime within the week, if all goes well and I don’t get lazy again (orz). Sorry for the wait.

Haha, no need to apologize bd_ (assuming I don’t fail completely and I read that right). I realize that fansubbers have lives outside their projects and we fans can’t be too quick to judge. It’s nice to know that you guys haven’t dropped it, thanks for working on it!
