it was not a cruel punishment, i think. it was what they deserved because if nanoha wasnt such an experiensed fighter they corld have realy hurt her put instead of nanoha Vita, she would have beaten them up real good unstead of just nocking them out and subaru should not have superted Tia’s desicion to attack so recklessly so she deserved to watch tia’s punishment

You have to remember, both Nanoha and Nanoha A’s are 13 episode series. They don’t have much of a choice but to rush through everything if they want to complete the series on schedule, or it’ll end up like code geass. Not that there was much to expand about in the old series anyway. Now they are ten years in the future, with very limited info known about what happened during the past ten years and a heck load of newcommers, they have alot of stuff to work with. Furthermore, this particular arc seems to concentrate more on the newcommers instead of nanoha, unlike it’s predessors.

Cruel? This is NANOHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA. Was still epic though, I like how Yuuno and Nanoha’s body language seem promising enough, but a fan can always hope.

Also, apparently there’s epic Signum punch in 09, can’t wait for that. It’s picking up in any case.

@ Avisch: It’s not like Tea wasn’t totally undeserving of it, sure she needed to be taught a lesson. But yea, Nanoha went a little overboard =\

@ nooneofconsequence: That hope is exactly what keeps me going.

@ Vex: It’s true that we needed some explanation for Tea’s past, I won’t argue with that. It’s all this stupid training that’s getting to me, it was fine for a few episodes but it’s getting old fast.

As for Subaru and Tea’s combo, it’s recklessness lies in the frontal attacks. Remember the first time Subaru charged Nanoha, she was surprised that it wasn’t one of Tea’s illusions. I’m guessing that during training, their combinations focused more on feint operations that tried to exploit openings. Charging head on into someone who has strong barrier magic like Nanoha is just stupid. And as for Tea, she’s not even supposed to use melee charges, she’s a mid range sharpshooter, the same position as Nanoha, so it’s understandable she was disappointed when she saw Tea break out of line.

@ Akimi: The more I look at it the more it makes sense. Her hair goes to about waist level, so tying it up like she has would put it at just past shoulder level.

Actually, i was pretty surprised too when i saw her hair. But after tying 2 of such knots it turned out to be around that length.

I liked the episode, it developed more around the characters (or character) and less around the plot. I think diving back into Tea’s past was a great way to show us why she is the way she is. I wouldn’t be surprised if they did this same thing for subaru.
Though I don’t understand what was so “reckless” about their combo move on Nanoha, seemed pretty sweet to me.

It’s a 26 ep or so series and its not even half-way through. I suspect the first half of the series is devoted to primarily team building and some exposition while the second will get into the action.

I liked it. Many people are saying: “Tea deserved it, she was overworking” and such. But despite that, Nanoha’s are: (as you say) cruel punishment.

I still have to really “watch” the episode. I skimmed over it and got what it was about.
