Fortunately, this arc not only sets up Claire's history, but also provides Claymore with its primary villain. A major plot point has already happened in a prior episode, but but viewers haven't been made aware of it yet. The murder-in-the-cathedral duology wasn't just a throwaway. There's really very little narrative fat to this series thus far, and that's quite impressive. This series started out as dark horse, but I think its going to be the most memorable sword story since Berserk. Not a bad guess on the resolution of the Teresa arc—but you’ll be surprised by what results.

Fortunately, this arc not only sets up Claire’s history, but also provides Claymore with its primary villain.
