@ Nexicon:

Well, it's kind of embarassing to admit, but it was actually the Sailor Moon meta-series lol.........

I used to watch the English dubs back in the 90s and really liked it......

I was randomly browsing through Youtube one day and found a Sailor Moon AMV, which in turn gave me a bunch of other hits, including episodes in the original Japanese.......

Needless to say, I was astonished at how different the dialouge was in the original Japanese compared to the English dubs, and so I decided to watch other series as well......Youtube is actually a suprisingly good source to find anime........even if the video quality is somewhat lacking......

So Youtube, combined with my discovery of torrent files (which made transfers ridiculously easy) basically started this new hobby :)....

I think I was incredibly lucky too in that I watched three kick-ass series in a row: Sailor Moon Stars, Kanon 2006 (clearly my favourite!), and Elfen Lied.....

The fact that all three shows are so different in tone and content made me open to different genres, and I never really had a chance to be "turned off" by the more mundane or fan-service type of shows......

And participating in blog discussion only enhances my enjoyment of watching new anime series :)......

This is sort of off topic, but after reading comrades and kanon_fan82's post I'm also interested to know how you guys got into anime.

As far as the Death Note episodes go, I do believe that they get better as they go on (I'm basing this off of the experience from reading the manga though) I'm really enjoying the series thus far, it's staying true to the manga for the most part.

On another note, I have recently gotten into another anime called Monster -that's also another great series.

I agree that Mello is not someone that is to be liked. Going all out, to take out all opposition. The way that he outsmarted Light and N was pretty well thought out though, if not exceedingly elaborate

@ Comrade:

Welcome to the wonderful world of anime! Not only are the stories and artwork entertaining, but you will find that your procrastination skills increase to the level of art form n order to watch more shows lol :)

Looking forward to your participation in future discussions :)

P.S. What got you converted to anime, if you don't mind my asking?
I've been watching it for less than year myself and am still a definite newbie ;)

It's apparently good practice for bloggers not to post direct links, but I can guide you =D

In the sidebar, under links you'll find Tokyo Toshokan, this place is the ultimate source for all things Japanese. Mostly anime and manga though, a quick search for Death Note will yield excellent results =)

Alternatively there baka-updates and boxtorrents.

If you still can't find them, or have problems with torrents and etc. Feel free to email me, my contact info is in the "Contact Us" tab at the top

As far as I know Death Note is licensed and therefore unavailable for download on many anime sites. As a new convert to anime and an ignorant otaku I truly regret not watching animes like Death Note from the beginning.

Anyone kind enough to share with me the knowledge on where to download the older episodes of Death Note? With this knowledge I will be able to contribute to the discussions here.

@ Kanon_fan82: The pain of watching Death Note in weekly installments =( I've been tempted time and time again to just get it over with and read the manga.

@ Hopey: I've been wondering why Ryuk second guessed Misa's decision to do the eye deal a second time, I hope there's a good explanation regarding that.

Unpredictable characters like Mello are too hard to understand T_T They leave too many possibilities and my head hurts from trying to piece together the logic, whereas Near, L and Light have perfect logic! It's just the logistic/mathematical side of my brain taking control I guess ^^

@ Brian Woon: Although aggressive, you have to admit that it's pretty effective, he left Near and Light in the dust this time.

Haven't watched Darker than Black yet, probably won't for a while since I have a growing backlog already, but I'll check out your post nonetheless =)

Mello's style of doing his thing is just too aggressive. He is a different level compared to Near & Raito. Wonder how the next episode will turn out?

Btw, I posted a review bout the first episode of Darker than Black. Check it out at http://myrandts.blogspot.com/2007/04/anime-review-darker-than-black.html

Leave a comment if your free. I wanted to have a discussion about this anime because there's a lot of questions that still bugs me about the anime. (^__^)

Mm, I believe that the new Shinigami may be after the one Misa has. I only think this because I'm still mulling over what Ryuk didn't say when Misa asked for the Shinigami eyes again.

Awwies, and you still don't like Mello xD You're just too much like Near and L and Light and stuff is all, Ruki =P
