There are plenty of good replacements for you to consider. Romeo x Juliet has very nice music and good animation, even if the plot is only marginally related to the namesake. If you like suspense, or detective stories, or supernatural elements, you'll like Darker than Black. Gurren-Lagann also gets a vote from me, and I'm no big fan of mecha either - but that show feels more like a parody of traditional mecha than anything. El Cazador doesn't really seem to have anything to do with either Madlax or Noir, if you're worried about that. Except for the amnesia angle. For medieval fantasy, Seirei no Moribito is quite promising.

Re explanation of Touka Gettan... Beats the hell outta me. Couple of things that I noticed though:

1) Doesn't seem to be chronological. Some events in episode three very obviously take place before episode two. And episode one has parts that take place further down the line yet. I'm almost expecting episode four to go even further back in time, except that after watching numero three I seriously don't wanna watch this show anymore... it's gross.

2) Takes place in two worlds. One seems to be affected by the sub/consciousness of the schizophrenic mother character.

3) Half the characters are demons (well, doh) and the plot seems to revolve around keeping the balance/peace/whatever intact. The main love story seems to be between a semi-demonic girl and the androgynous protagonist.

@ Telliamed: I'm trying to get into Touka Gettan, but it's hard when they keep throwing new information at you without explaining anything else XD Hopefully they piece things together bit by bit.

LS's second episode was a lot better, but still not enough to draw me in completely. Sola and Hayate are the front runners for this season, in my opinion.

@ Ryan A: Confusion paradox T_T? That's...confusing. The random yuri was a pleasant surprise though =D

I dare someone to try and come up with a coherent explanation of what exactly is going on in this series. >>

Yea, its great. Halfway through the 2nd episode, I came to the conclusion that its less confusing without subs. Aaaand, subs aren't necessary to be confused. So its like a confusion paradox. ^^

Yes, there is a certain David Lynch quality to Touka Gettan. I could probably get into it, but will have to wait for XVID release as my computer is not worthy.

Well, I'm happy with just sola and Hayate for now. Even LS was able to redeem itself with the many anime references in ep2. Obviously not at the level of HnG.

@ ohi & suguru: Thanks for the recommendation, it looks pretty good actually. If not me, Soda has expressed interest in blogging it

@ Brian: Do Sola, now! That anime is made of win. Nagasarete Airantou needs a lesser mind to enjoy lol, just turn your brain off an enjoy the ride XD

I tried the first episode of Claymore. Quite nice. The art work of the characters reminds me of Ghost in the Shell. Hayate is just weird but funny in a way. Nagasarete Airantou was kind of nice although the story is hard to believe{an island full of girls!!?! COME ON!!!} Waiting to try sola & lucky star....(^____^)

> Tengen Toppa Gurren-Lagann

Normally I hate mecha series, but this has been strangely addictive so far, so I'd give it my vote too. And the subs are so fast it feels like they're out before the episode even airs in Japan...
