L was like Jesus in this episode in the fact that he probably knew his time was coming. His genius mind probably figured out that in some way he was going to die soon. That's why he was on the roof, and that's why he washed Light's feet, as Jesus broke bread with Judas. Maybe he felt bad that he couldn't stop Light's further descent into madness and self-destruction by staving off his attempts to murder him. In any case, the saddest part for me was seeing L's rare smile when he was on the roof. Poor L. You'll be missed!
