Back in the days of Haruhi, there was a certain parody of the ending dance that was spreading like wildfire. It was the gundam edition, featuring stop animation and gundam models, done by the director “plamo” [if my memory serves correctly]. However, after a while, he took down all his videos and disappeared from the face of the earth.

He seems to now have re-emerged under the new alias “plamoo”, and I only just rediscovered him. Woo, he got a LOT better, I absolutely love his newest works. Simply put, it’s amazing. Everything is so much more fluid than before, and the effort he put forth really shows. The camera work is good, he’s varying it around a lot with close-ups and movement. There are also special effects, leaving less to imagination, and more to visual stimulation. And not to leave out audio, he includes sound effects to everything. It just blows me away.

So first off is a redone Hare Hare Yukai, but this time using the full ending animation. Plamo actually upgraded to other figures instead of Gundams, which allows him to manipulate many more features and create not only a more fluid animation, but also allow for much more detailed movement. The difference in quality is staggering. And that’s not at all to say his original work was bad o.o

Moving on from his parodies, which he did many of [Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, and Part 4], he’s made a few original content videos. Both of which have made me laugh, and really have been done very well. This would be where his sound effects and camera work really shine, since he’s no longer constricted by mimicking previous works with existing audio [IE OP/ED parodies]. Not wanting to delay it any further…

Competition

Awesome choreography. I don’t know what else to say. There’s a lot of flying/moving about, and it’s easy to see that plamo isn’t taking any shortcuts. I’d sound like a broken record if I kept talking about how everything was well put together, so I’ll just let that go without saying. If there is any one complaint I can make, it’s the lack of physical bullets. The only thing we can see are flashes of light and recoil, but not the bullet itself. However, given the fact that this is a stop motion animation, having an actual bullet would just be impossible/incredibly hard to do, so I won’t stress that minor disappointment. And ok, I admit it. The ending made me laugh, however cheesy.

Musical Chairs…?

Loved it. Completely random, pretty pointless. However, the emotions and expressions that were conveyed at the end of the video really made me laugh. Oh plamo, how you slay me =(
