Kanon - Character Rankings
March 18th, 2007 by Shirukii

One of the best things about harem anime is watching the fanboys tear each other apart arguing for the sake of their preferred girl in the series. Kanon is no exception with a cast that is very different in terms of personality and character design. And not that I want to add fuel to the fire but I feel the need to share my personal rankings and thoughts, or maybe I’m just suffering from Kanon withdrawal…In either case, here’s the list of how the Kanon girls stack up to each other in my books.
I’m going to be dividing this into two sections, main characters and sub-characters. The main characters are those who have dedicated arcs (the ones Yuuichi gets to bag in the erogame) and the sub-characters are those who did not have a dedicated path in the game nor a dedicated arc in the anime.
Main Characters
1. Tsukimiya Ayu

Uguu~
There shouldn’t have been a shred of doubt that Ayu would grace the top of this list, my fanboyism for her knows no bounds.
One of the many girls that Yuuichi met during his visits to the town over seven years ago, Ayu met Yuuichi soon after the death of her mother and instantly found comfort in his presence. Unfortunately their time together was short lived as Yuuichi had to return home and an unfortunate fall out of a tree landed Ayu in a coma. Upon returning seven years later, Yuuichi is reunited with Ayu, or more accurately her spirit, who has projected herself into the physical world.
The lovable taiyaki thief boasts loli appeal, an idiosyncratic manner of speech (boku) and one of the greatest moe catchphrases known to man (Uguu~). My love for Ayu is not a result of any one aspect of her, but rather how her entire personality and demeanor comes together to make her almost unbearably cute.
Many criticize Ayu because they feel that she is not suitable for Yuuichi, and thus opt to become Nayuki fanboys instead. I wholeheartedly disagree with this, Yuuichi and Ayu’s relationship is well founded both in their interactions with each other and more notably their past.
The dynamic between the two is very laid back and almost childlike, what others mistake for an almost sibling relationship I interpret as the two being comfortable and natural with each other. As for the basis of their relationship, Yuuichi was the one to help Ayu out of her depression after losing her mother, and soon after it was apparent that the two were in love (a remarkable feat for children ~age 10)
Oh, and being voiced by Horie Yui doesn’t hurt either. Ayu-chan ftw!
2. Sawatari Makoto

Auu~
During one of Yuuichi’s yearly visits, he found an injured fox on Monomi Hill and tended it back to health. He spent his days talking to his new pet, often about a crush on an older girl named Sawatari Makoto. However, the day came when Yuuichi had to return home and he was forced to release the fox back into the wild.
When he returns to the town, he is soon greeted by a spunky red head who claims to have amnesia and an inexplicable grudge against Yuuichi. We soon learn that this girl is the incarnation of the fox who Yuuichi played with in his childhood, assuming the name and form of Yuuichi’s crush, Sawatari Makoto.
Makoto is a character based on what I call the Asuka Langley (NGE) template, ie. the energetic tsundere red head. KyoAni did a great job flushing out her character, one that is initially spiteful and selfish but soon, almost unwillingly, becomes tender and pitiable.
When Makoto is first introduced she comes off as a selfish little brat who thinks of no one else but herself. But as her arc continues and her affection towards Yuuichi grows, her dere dere side shines, and I’m a sucker for tsundere. And finally comes her regression into an infantile state, making her a truly pitiable character and making viewers feel almost guilty that they ever thought of her as a spoiled brat. Makoto’s regression was also the only time in Kanon where I almost shed tears, that scene where she asked Yuuichi to marry her almost got me T_T.
And of course let’s not forget the REAL Sawatari Makoto, affectionately called an Asahina Mikuru lookalike. I loved the parallels between her and kitsune-Makoto, pork buns and fox stationery. Kudos to Makoto’s seiyuu for having such a versatile voice.
If anything, ranking Makoto over Nayuki is what is going to get me killed with this list, but my weakness to tsundere and Makoto’s overall awesomeness left me with no choice XD.
3. Kawasumi Mai

*forehead chop*
Rounding out the top three is Kawasumi Mai, yet another friend from Yuuichi’s past. At a young age Mai found out she had miraculous healing powers, as a result people began to fear her and she ended up isolated from society. Enter Yuuichi, who befriends Mai without a second thought to her powers. But as the trend goes, Yuuichi is forced to leave her to return home. But Mai isn’t ready to let go of her only friend and fabricates a story about demons which she needs Yuuichi’s help to fend off. When Yuuichi returns to the town he finds that Mai’s powers have given life to these demons and so he helps Mai realize the truth and come to terms with her abandonment issues.
Mai is the archetypal katana wielding bishoujo, which is reason enough for her to be in the top three of this list. But to add to that, she has a unique personality, one which is sincere and open, yet only to those who put the effort in to get to know and understand her. This often results in her sincerity being misunderstood and taken as hostility or arrogance. On the surface Mai appears to be a withdrawn ice queen, but in reality she’s a candid person who has difficulty openly expressing her emotion.
And let’s not forget that waltz, the scene that gave Live Alive a run for its money in terms of popularity and quality.
Biased from Toei’s version, I wasn’t expecting to take a liking to Mai and her taciturn personality. But KyoAni surprised me and did a great job of showing her metamorphosis from the girl who isolated herself in fear of hurting others to one who is strong willed yet understands that it’s not wrong to depend on others in times of need.
Yuki channeling in episode 24 was what tipped the scale and ranked her marginally over…
4. Minase Nayuki

Fight-o! Da yo~
Coming in just under Mai is Minase Nayuki; of course, another girl from Yuuichi’s seemingly traumatic past. Nayuki is Yuuichi’s blood related cousin, every aforementioned visit Yuuichi spent living with Nayuki and her mother Akiko. After spending so much time together, Nayuki developed a crush for her cousin Yuuichi, and picked quite possibly the worst time to confess to him, the day after Ayu’s accident. This resulted in her being coldly rejected and ignored for the following seven years.
First of all let me say that it’s not that I don’t like Nayuki, I just don’t have the same level of love for her that others do. I suppose the main reason that I don’t identify with Nayuki is because I don’t really pity her, sure it was sad to see her get rejected by Yuuichi, but compared to the hardships of the other girls, that’s really not that bad. Nayuki makes it clear time and time again that she doesn’t want to interfere with the Ayu and Yuuichi’s relationship, but at the same time periodically drops hints to Yuuichi that she’s still in love with him. It’s this indecision that places her below Ayu and the others, there’s nothing wrong for fighting for the one you love and it’s admirable to sacrifice your feelings for the sake of another, but wavering in between is just plain hypocritical.
But enough about Nayuki’s faults, I still think she’s a great character, her generally cheerful outlook on life and cooking and cleaning skills that far surpass Ayu’s make her a seemingly perfect fit for Yuuichi. Not to mention her sleepy moe mode, that has the uncanny ability to make me let out a small laugh no matter how many times I see it.
Despite being a lovable character, Nayuki is the unfortunate victim of circumstance. Her happy arc and Ayu’s happy arc are unable to coincide, and since the latter was chosen, Nayuki got shafted. With the most fragmented screentime of all the Kanon girls, Nayuki lacked the fluid development and diversity that is taken for granted with the other girls. It’s a shame to see a character with such potential to go to waste, but it was a necessary sacrifice to fully flesh out the Ayu arc, and so the viewers are left with a mere shadow of Nayuki’s awesomeness. And that, unfortunately, led to her relatively low placing on this list.
5. Misaka Shiori

Sono koto iu hito kirai desu…
Wrapping up the rankings for the main girls is Misaka Shiori, -THE- sad girl in the snow.
Shiori is the only main Kanon girl who did not have the honour a life scarring childhood experience with Yuuichi. She is terminally ill with a sickness that apparently leaves her well enough to walk around in sub zero temperatures wearing a mini skirt and a shawl, yet severe enough that she has less than up to her next birthday to live.
Her imminent death results in her isolation from her friends and family, as she doesn’t want people getting unnecessarily attached to her only to be put through the pain of losing a loved one. However, with Yuuichi’s help she realizes that she doesn’t want to die and certainly doesn’t want to be alone, with this new mindset and the help of a miracle, she manages to fend off the illness and return to everyday life…which is pretty much the same deal as before, but with school o.O
I actually really liked Shiori’s story and wish that I could have ranked her higher, but that would mean pushing Nayuki even further down, something I wasn’t prepared to accept the consequences for. Shiori’s story is the most earthly of all the Kanon arcs, this meant that it was slightly easier to relate to her situation, as it isn’t impossible for something like it to show up in real life. Despite the fact that it’s a lot like a cheesy Korean drama, it was touching to see Shiori try her best to keep an optimistic outlook on life, while really wanting to cry out for help. Also, her “It’s called a miracle because it won’t happen” line choked me up T_T even though I knew she was going to make it through.
It was a tough choice to put her last, especially after awesome scenes like the spicy curry and whack’a'mole, but unfortunately not all the girls can be #1 =(.
Secondary Characters
1. Kurata Sayuri

Ahahaha~
I’ll have to admit, I initially hated Sayuri with a passion, but after a while she began to grow on me. But whether it was Soda’s constant nagging about how awesome she was broke my will to resist, or whether her laugh bore a hole into my ability to judge is still unknown.
A sincere and emotionally open character, Sayuri serves as the perfect compliment to Mai. The two share a unique dependence on each other, Mai is dependent on Sayuri as one of the few people who took the time to try and understand and befriend her. And Sayuri sees Mai as an opportunity to reconcile her harsh treatment of her brother, who died without knowing how much she truly loved him. Although I don’t think Sayuri is using Mai as a means to escape her guilt, Mai does represent a second chance for Sayuri, one which she tries hard to honor and be thankful for everyday.
2. Minase Akiko

“That [jam] was something other than “food”
I’ll be completely honest here and say that this ranking is based purely on the amount of hilarity that resulted from Akiko’s special jam. Other than that, she played little role in the actual story until she got hit by a car and sent Nayuki into severe depression, which wasn’t even emphasized in much detail due to the abrupt turnaround in episode 24.
Also, I’m almost 100% positive that Akiko lived in Canada at some point in her life, where else could she have learned those l33t shoveling skills @_@
3. Misaka Kaori

I don’t have a little sister!
Despite her redemption at the end, I never really like Kaori. To run away from her family problems by denying the existence of her sister is just plain mean. Then after ignoring her problems for so long, for her to comfort Nayuki and assure her that she understands the pain she’s going through was just too sudden of a change for me to accept.
That hair flip was pure winnage though, I’ll give her that.
4. Mishio Amano

You’re in the midst of a miracle
Obligatory mention more than anything, my feelings towards her are neutral. Started off as a Yuki clone but ruined her image by flirting with Yuuichi at the end, then never showing up until a brief cameo in the finale.
Character Expose: Aizawa Yuuichi

And finally, here’s my take on the central character of Kanon, the cause and cure of all the depression and happiness packed into Kanon: Aizawa Yuuichi.
Yuuichi is, for lack of a better word, a player. Even as a child he went from girl to girl, leaving them with the impression that he was a sincere and caring guy, then leaving them with serious abandonment issues because he had to return home after winter break. I’m making this sound more dramatic than it really is, but the fragmented nature of the story and Yuuichi’s personality really does make him seem like a womanizer.
Voiced by the same seiyuu as Kyon from SHnY (Sugita Tomokazu) and porting over the same sarcastic demeanor, I nicknamed Yuuichi Kyon’ichi in light of their similarities. However, I really should have dropped the nickname around the halfway point when shit hit the fan and Yuuichi’s world comes crumbling down around him.
Yuuichi proclaims that one of his few virtues is strength in the face of adversity and his ability to remain composed even in the most depressing of times. However, everyone has a breaking point, and the loss of Ayu following his isolation from all the other girls he held dear was the final straw. Yuuichi broke down into a ball of angst, claiming that it’s all his fault for not having the strength to help anyone.
I find Yuuichi to be a truly admirable character, despite jumping from girl to girl without flinching, he really pours his heart into caring for them. Playful, yet at the same time brutally honest, he does his best to cheer up the girls who are in otherwise unfortunate circumstances. While you can argue that it’s Yuuichi’s duty to do so, being the original cause of their problems, he doesn’t have an air of obligation about him because he simply doesn’t remember what happened all those years ago.
It was painful to see Yuuichi try so hard to help those he loved and be rewarded with more pain and anguish, but as Makoto (the real one) said to him: “The more trouble and pain [a person] goes through, the stronger and kinder they get”. And while this isn’t necessarily true, because the same situation often causes people to become bitter, it was nice to see Yuuichi take the high road and come out of it a better person.
Also, I’ve mentioned it before, but I really like the idea that Yuuichi’s good deeds came back in the end. The effort that he spent trying to meet the wishes of all the Kanon girls is rewarded in the end as they all manage to pull through their respective hardships. In the finale Shiori attributes the unlikely recoveries to a single unified miracle that originates from Ayu, but I prefer to think that the miracle is instead a result of Yuuichi’s dedication and love for each and every one of them, any other explanation, in my opinion, cheapens the ordeal.
* * * * *
And so there you have it, my rankings and thoughts on all the major and secondary characters of Kanon (- Jun, I was too lazy to cover him). If I were to lump all the girls into a single category, the ranking would have looked something like this:
1. Ayu
2. Makoto
3. Mai
4. Nayuki
5. Sayuri
6. Shiori
7. Akiko
8. Kaori
9. Amano
Not much of a difference, only a switching around of Sayuri and Shiori.
This was another one of those posts written at 2 in the morning, so if there are any glaring inconsistencies in my thoughts or writing, let me know and I’ll fix them when I get a chance. Flaming, fanboying and opinions are welcome, just make sure to keep things civil ^^

Good wrap-up my man :)
For my own personal rankings….see the post in Ep. 24……..I also included some general comments on your blog+the finale :)…..
Out of all the blog sites I’ve visted for Kanon, this is the one I have enjoyed the most :)
I have to add an obligatory fan-boy rant here for Nayuki…..
You found her difficult to relate to eh? Obviously you’ve never had your heart broken before lol ;)…….
Believe me, when it happens it feels like the world is collapsing, and hurts just as much as falling out of a tree :(…….
But hopefully, that will never happen to you…….or anyone else for that matter :P
It’s a shame she got the shaft in terms of screen-time…….but by the same token, the lack of screen-time made her moments in the spotlight that much sweeter! :)
Btw. I agree that Akikko-san must have picked up her shovelling skills in Canada :)
Thanx for the good posts/conversation everyone! :)
Nayu? Down at FOURTH?? UNDER MAI?!?!
*Cracks knuckles*
And don’t you dare think for a second that having Shiori under Nayu’ll make me hurt you less.
However, it DOES please me to see Sayu up at top for secondary characters. I see my constant fanboyism has broken you. Sayu’s laugh is awesome, I love it. And that easy going attitude can’t be beat. Nayu Sayu forever!
But where in the world is Kitagawa? He was a pretty awesome guy, though I guess you were more focusing on the girls. Even so, I think he deserves a LITTLE attention, at least =S
*Takes refuge here from Kanon character/story/KA handling/etc etc flamewars outside*

Uguu… I’m still stuck between Ayu & Mai….. @.@
@ Nightingale:
I hear ya…..Ayu/Mai were a tie for me as well……with Mai perhaps slightly ahead because of the shocker sepukku attempt ;)…..
OK, it wasn’t sepukku in the traditional sense, but you know what I mean lol :P
But I’m really surprised there was no essay for the final episode @_@ just a heated debate over Clanned advertisements….
that’s not like you lol ;)………Were u really that disappointed with the ending???
@ Kanon_fan82
Ur mistaken….. -___-
im having trouble pin down my focus point because there are so many critics/views/speculations out there i’d like to comment on as well as clarifying…. im still working on it (need more time gaaah), but in anycase this time im just gonna write something brief, along with my ‘decryption’ on Ayu’s last wish adding on with a translated post from a chinese forum about the meaning of Kanon KA was trying to bring out in the final episode. Oh and i have to organize a collection of translated quotes from also another different foreign language blog about the how KA related each musical title into their respective episodes. its very detailed and thought inspiring and i thought Shirukii wouldn’t wanna miss that out ;)
-
u no, lately im having thoughts about, now that Kanon is over, i mite as well take a break from anime wave (which i always do once in while), and start building a database blog/site based solely on AIR, Kanon and Clannad (in the future), yet i will need to plan everything properly first @.@
-
and believe me it’s gonna be a looong campaign…. @.@
O btw im cooled down on the CLANNAD issue now, i was kinda heated up by the WKWII (World Kanon War II) out there that i got negatively affected too… Gomenasai… OTZ
-
Now that i think about it, Mirrinus & Shirukii are right, its probably just unlucky timing, but i still have some suspicion if KA did it intentionally or not *unfriendly glares at KA staff*
-
Aside from that, im remaining neutral towards KA’s CLANNAD anyway, because as great as KA can be, CLANNAD still post the most difficult piece for any animation studio even thinking about adapting it for its rather complicated interveaning arcs, number of characters, highlights as well as the need of making a smooth route to advance towards the afterstory. The unique nature of CLANNAD brings a challenge beyond anyone can imagine to KA. So yea, as much as i’d love to see it being adapted, at the same time, im kinda feeling doubtful. Its something even “faith in KA” can settle.
sry.. typo: cant* settle….
@ Soda: Mwhahaha, I told you you wouldn’t like it =P Oh, and I did mention Kitagawa, and why I didn’t feel like writing anything about him.
@ Nightingale: There’s no rush XD Take all the time you need to organize you thoughts, it’s the last hurrah for Kanon blogging anyways.
Lately I’ve really been into music, especially classical, which is where many of these terms originate from, I’m looking forward to that in depth analysis. I may even turn it into a post if you would be kind enough to give me a link along with the translation so I can credit properly.
From the way you speak of it, I’ll assume that you’ve played CLANNAD as well o.o That’ll be interesting. I’m going to be blogging pretty much all of KyoAni’s works from now on. So Lucky Star during spring, SHnY 2 during fall, then CLANNAD next spring. Hopefully you stick around and keep reading ^^
@ Kanon_fan82: Ayu ftw! Although it was tough placing Mai, so much awesomeness. Loli Mai in particular was really cute T_T
Nah… i haven’t played CLANNAD… nvr got the chance… OTZ
I only read about the story structure and character relation analysis, and ‘its gonna be a nightmare to adapt’ is the only conclusion i can come up with so far….
-
Ah yes of course i will post the link as long as i dont get spam karma-ed @.@ That particular blogger writes probably the most detailed Kanon episodic analysis ive ever seen @.@
-
Ahhhhhh help me choose between Ayu & Mai!!!! Ayu ftw~ no wait, Mai ftw!!! NO waiiiit garrgh!!! Nuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu~~~ *jumps off roof*
So I’ve been trying to get Kanon completely out of my system, and there’s still one thing that’s irking me……
Quick question for anyone who might have played the game….
Does anyone know what the Nayuki ending actually is???
I ask because the game is in Japanese and and English patch is nowhere to found…nor is there one in development………
I was able to see several screen-shots of the “stolen kiss”…not to mention some rather disturbing hentai screenshots…..but nothing that really hints at how it works out story-wise……..
@ Nightingale:
Ya man take your time :)……Looking forward to your final reflections!
Nayuki Ending,
The kiss was absolutely NOT stolen (one major reason i hated Toei’s distortion of her arc).
First of all, a sad Ayu farewell to U1 (wave bye bye on the street, i cant believe the author decided to go all out at describing Ayu’s lonely gesture at this part when its not her arc, giving me a painful time when im suppose to be concentrating on Nayuki >_>)
The accident and depression pretty much went the same like KA’s adaptation, except upon Nayuki’s depression, after she kicked out U1, U1 went into some deep thinking, and then he put the legendary clock into Nayuki’s room when she’s asleep (dont ask me why the door wasn’t locked,) and he went out to the bench and waited, pretty much for a whole day like he did for Ayu in her arc (without the snowstorm, tho i cant remember if there was a snowstorm in Ayu’s arc, i heard one of the bad ending is that U1 actually did die from the blizzard… OTZ). And the after the long waiting Nayuki shows up and similar scene of forgiveness in KA’s adaptation, except leaning more towards romance at the end and theres the kiss. Epilogue shows their normal lives as usual, with Akiko-san fully recovered. Nayuki suddenly asks U1 about Ayu’s whereabout, and tells him briefly about what happened 7 years ago (something about losing a very good friend back then,) U1 seems to have gotten over with the scar now that Nayuki is with him. And then finally, the story ends with the alarm clock going off because Nayuki forgot to turn it off… the epic recorded version of U1’s confession that every Nayu fan were ranting for.
@ Nightingale: Uguuuuuuu! (translation: Ayu > all)
Just out of curiosity, what language is the other blog in?
O_O At Yuuichi dying in the blizzard for the bad ending, I don’t remember that happening. As for Toei’s ending…meh, I didn’t really mind it, they took a chance and tried something different, it was greeted with mixed reviews. I’m kind of impartial, thought that may be because I’m not much of a Nayu fan.
@ kanon_fan82: Kanon will never be fully out of my stream T_T
@ Shirukii
Some quotes are in japanese, and the musical note and title one is in chinese, and one rather interesting short comment in french which was barely elementry enough for me to understand @.@ O yea, KA + KEY = world known combination = LOVE~ (i haven’t include Korean/Spanish/German blogs that i cant read… )
-
>> Uguuuuuuu! (translation: Ayu > all)
Uguu… T_T (i have a feeling Ayu must be really mad right now because we all love to abuse her ‘uguu’ XD)
-
I’m not exactly sure about the bad ending, ive seen ppl talking about it, but ive nvr actually managed to play out every single endings, GE/BE… i no for instance U1 can definitely die in Mai’s arc for sure, thats one uber trap for those who aren’t careful with their choices, but i dunno wat happens in Ayu’s arc, which i’d luv to find out (u no, watching U1 die is a rather ’sad’ entertainment.) Sometimes i play out those nicely written bad ending just for thoughts. Like Shiori’s and Mai’s BE i mentioned b4, they’re rather well done.
-
Toei… hmm, i could have gone subjective, especially whenever i think about them i go berserk for their adaptation of AIR movie (the first Toei’s KEY adaptation i saw, and Nuuuuuuu they make Misuzu sooo not Misuzu!!!!! Yukito become so pimpy in the movie!!!! And WTH have they done to Ryuuya O___O), ever since then i cant help to get a irky feeling of how they messing up the original great image i have for AIR and Kanon… *glares*

>> Kanon will never be fully out of my stream
+1
I’m a little late here, but nice write-up. I like the points made ^^ I do wish Nayuki did have more play in the series, damn.
Well I suppose I enjoyed Nayuki and Sayuri most because they were quite normal, but I think the idea behind this aspect is that because they are normal they seem more dynamic (or would be). Though, these characters don’t change much throughout the series.
I guess I’ll call it “dynamic potential” in their characters that attracted me. Ayu, Makoto, Mai they have spectacular/special/fantastic attributes and dispositions, but since they have these ingrained set ways, their dynamic potential didn’t strike me as much. Ayu’s not going to lose her Uguu~ in Kanon II (theoretically if there was one).
I guess my ranks slightly correspond to, “Which character would you like to see in an alternate story? (similar to CLAMP reusing characters)” or “Which would you have liked to see more of?”
Hehe, I didn’t really think about this until now though.
Cheers ^.^
@ Nightingale: Completely agree’d about Toei’s version of AIR. I was more or less impartial to their changes in Kanon, but their AIR adaptation didn’t do justice to the series at all.
@ Ryan A: Better late than never XD In terms of potential in the characters, I found that they all changed quite significantly. Shiori and Kaori were given a new perspective on life, Mai learned to be more honest and trusting, Nayuki learned to cope with loss, Yuuichi learned that imitating Kyon isn’t the end all solution to life, and Makoto…is a fox.
As for “Which would you have liked to see more of?” As much as I want to say Nayuki, I kind of wanted to see Shiori’s story fleshed out a bit more. But more Nayu-chan never hurts ^^
1) The Makoto that saved Yuuichi’s life wasn’t the fox Makoto.
2) Mai isn’t selfish (even in the beginning of her arc). She’s independent. Yuuichi is the most selfish character in this anime.
3) Ayu is not really human. There’s three of her (I think Ayu can’t die)
4) What part of Ayu do you really like about her? Her uguness? Her cute demeanor? How naive you are. She’s the third most selfish character in the group. She’s way too irritating. (imagine someone asking you for taiyaki or help her finding her lost item almost every day - in a real life situation, people would want to kick her)
5) Makoto is better as a fox - and she should stay that way.
6) How did Makoto get into the household in the first place?
7) If you take any fantasy elements out of this, this show would be crap.
8) What’s good about the series is its increased quality and setting design.
Just as i thought i can take refuge here from flames out there, some ppl has to ruin the peaceful mood with arguments that are “justified” by null reasons. Let’s see,
@ fubu
1) Uh… i dont see the purpose of bringing this up? We all know that already…
-
2) No one is selfish in this story. Actually no wait, i do see ur point, everyone IS selfish afterall, for the fact that each person has to their reason to care for the others, because to fulfilled one’s most important people’s wish/happiness, is their happiness. Now THAT’s, selfish.
-
3) At least one Ayu is a solid, existing human, thaz for sure.
-
4) It’s up to thee that u think Ayu’s “selfish” or watever, that’s ur preferences. BUT thy not liking a character does NOT mean thou should question or even have the right to BELITTLE others’ peaceful fondness of him/her. Opinions? Sure. Calling someone “naive” jsut because u loathe his/her favorite character? Bad, bad move. It only shows how narrowminded u r, fitting to ur own term: naive.
-
6) She got scavenged as a “huge bag of hot pot ingredient.” Refer to Ep03 of the series.
-
7) But hey, this show consists of fantasy element, u cant say “what if i take the fantasy element out” just as u cant say “what if i take a computer’s circuits and boards out.” These elements composed Kanon of what it is right now, solid. U cant judge a piece by implying “what if i take these out” because that just won’t make any logical sense.
-
8) That’s up to u to believe it that way, but wat bothers me is that, u can at least give a reason of why dont u like other elements, even a very subjective opinion like “it doesn’t appeal to me” can justify ur opinion.
-
-
-
Now now, hope i didn’t stir up the fire too badly. I sincerely hope that be the last flame bait.
-
-
@ Shirukii
first is that me must apologize for the fuss above OTZ
next is my one quick stupid question:
-
>>In terms of potential in the characters, I found that they all changed quite significantly
-
1) How did Ayu changed? XD
Please ignore the following:
2) How did Akiko’s jamu changed!?? Yes it’s a character too!!! XD
I just watched some episodes of Kanon 2006 and I gotta say, it’s just not my thing. I guess it’s because I’ve never really been a big fan of harem and overtly cute anime characters. Anyway, I gave it a shot, and I’m sorry to say, I didn’t like it (I really had no clue that this was going to be harem series).
Guess I’m not a normal fanboy am I? But to each their own I say.
You may not be a normal fanboy, but it means you’re also not a sad social reject. Those of us who are not turned on by 4 year olds in teenage (and therefore screwable) bodies need not worry about fitting in with the majority.
