Where’s your prince now?!

Sooo…this episode kind of sucked, and by kind of, I mean really. Although the most revealing in terms of plot and seemingly the most dramatic, it left out the things that make kyousora such an awesome anime. Case and point: no Kuu monologuing. I know this isn’t really fair since she’s had a life shattering experience full of lies, deceit, yuri, and bondage…but Kuu is such a generic character when she’s not innocently recounting the daily happenings of life.

Episode Rating: 7/10

After finding out that she’s an absolute angel, Kuu breaks down, suddenly she becomes one and the same with the beings that she just a while ago thought were pitiable. After being shown evidence time and time again that absolute angels are primarily used as tools and not treated as human beings, her ideal world comes crashing down around her.

No longer can she continue with delusions of being the princess to her beloved prince, or failing that, Kyoshiro’s love slave. As she is no longer that which can be considered human, she loses her will to continue living.

She’s so disillusioned that she actually begins to hallucinate, tricking herself into believing the ordeal was a dream and that she was back to normal school life. But this doesn’t last very long, as even her subconscious is unable to run from the harsh truth.

Taking advantage of her weak will, Mika plans to fuse Kuu and Kaon, to further increase the strength of her absolute angel. But Setsuna and Kyoshiro crash in just in time, we have a good old fashioned mecha battle, and in the end Kuu is rescued.

And so we’re left with an angsty Kuu, a pissed off Mika (because Kaon doesn’t love her =D) and once again, a jealous Setsuna. I don’t like where this is going =(

Preview: Kuu offers herself to Kyoshiro, Kaede style? I can only hope that this is the case, and it would completely justify Kuu’s angst, anything less is unacceptable.

Thoughts

Well, as I said, not exactly my favourite episode thus far. Even though it was packed full of plot, character development and mecha battles, it was a really boring episode. The lack of Kuu’s monologuing in this episode really serves as a testament to how awesome it is, take it away for even one episode and she becomes a mediocre character.

As for Setsuna, I’m getting really tired of her pathetic attempts at grabbing Kyoshiro’s attention. All this talk about being hopelessly devoted and “I r Kyoshiro’s sword and will fight to the death for him” comes off as really shallow when she starts groveling at his feet for a kiss.

That having been said, absolute angels are being portrayed as much worse than they actually are. It’s clear that all of them have the ability to feel and display emotion. Setsuna is the poster girl for jealousy, Kaon is still obviously affectionate towards Himeko, and Kuu…well Kuu just radiates emotion in every sense of the word.

I don’t know how many times I have to reiterate this, but Mika seriously needs to die. To quote lolikit:

I think it’s a universal opinion in the community that Mika needs to die. I’m going to retreat on that front and push for her torture. I did not approve of L’s methods of torturing Misa (god, that crotch belt was a terrible insult) but I feel they’d be quite suited to Mika. Torture the torturers, says I. And torture them BAD.

I, for one, agree. Although it does seem that she’s getting what she deserves, being rejected by Kaon because her true feelings still lie with Himeko. But emotional anguish is not enough! She needs to experience pain equivalent to the battering ram she tortured Kaon with, only then will justice have been served.

Hopefully we get our cheerful, energetic Kuu back next episode, or she goes psycho on a comparable level to Chikane in Kannaduki or Kaede in Shuffle. Another thing that would appease my anger is that KuuXSetsuna scenario I’m praying in vain for XD
