Kyoshiro to Towa no Sora 04

Episode in a nutshell:

x 20

Interestingly enough, kyosora takes a break from yuri and excessive kisu/shower/sparkle scenes this week…I’m confused, is this a good thing or a bad thing @_@? Instead we’re treated to *gasp* actual plot! Sure it’s kind of vague and still doesn’t have any sort of direction, but it’s getting there!

Episode Rating: 8.5/10

Continuing from last episode, Kuu finds herself on top of Kyoshiro, presumably he braced her fall at his expense. The two seem to be in a run down school, abandoned after a catastrophic failure in the experimentation on Absolute Angels.

With Kyoshiro out cold, Kuu manages to compose herself after screaming out his name about 20 times. She drags him to the school’s nurses office, lays him on the bed and tried to find something to treat his wounds with. After a quick search in the nearby medicine cabinet…

Medkit, get!

However…

*whistles and walks away*

So, having immediately decided that proximity to cockroaches render the bandages useless, she uses the next best thing…

…her seifuku! Shirukii approves ^^

After bandaging Kyoshiro and fetching some water, Kuu returns to find him awake and in more or less good condition. The two start talking and eventually start raving about their idols, Kuu describes her ouji-sama and Kyoshiro his onii-san. Little do they know that they speak of the same person, dramatic irony ftw? The uplifting mood hits a wall when Kuu asks to be introduced to Kyoshiro’s brother one day, who unfortunately passed away ten years ago.

We now interrupt this entry for some serious W.T.F. Do not want!

We apologize for the inconvenience and are claim no liability for loss of eyesight resulting from the above screencap. We now return to your regularly scheduled senseless ranting:

Excusing herself from their epic dialog, Kuu steps out to get some more water. At the stream she is confronted by the loli yuri furry’s acquaintance. Luckily, Kyoshiro comes to save the day! And the acquaintance is identified as Ayanokoji Sojiro, another one of Kyoshiro’s brothers.

They banter for a while, only to be interrupted by Setsuna and loli yuri furry crashing through the wall, mid-battle. Amidst the mecha battle, Kyoshiro barks out orders to Setsuna, ignoring her well being and treating her purely as a weapon. This prompts Kuu to embrace him, begging him to stop saying such cruel words, as it doesn’t fit with her idealized fantasy.

*insert flashy effects* And somehow they end up on the roof, perfectly safe, loli yuri furry and Sojiro nowhere in sight…convenient plot catalysts ftl?

There’s also a short clip of Mika looming over Kaon after last episode’s torture session. Seems like they broke down her spirit in order to make her a more efficient slave. And so with this, I predict Mika’s death sometime in the duration of this series. Cruelty against Kaon does not go unpunished!

She looks like she could use a hug =(

Thoughts

Quite a different episode from what we’ve seen so far. There was a coherent structuring to the events, instead of random kissing, showers and sparkle fantasies. I’m quite fond of the randomness of the previous episodes, so that’s not exactly a plus for me, but the episode was still excellent in its own way.

There was finally some plot exposure. Kyoshiro’s determination and past was revealed, some background on the events leading up to the Absolute angels was given and the debate as to whether they should be destroyed or protected is given a kickstart.

One thing that has remained consistent, however, is Kuu, and this is most definitely a good thing. Her hilarious monologues continue to entertain, despite their repetitiveness. At first she uncharacteristically laments about how little she knows about Kyoshiro and that she is not worthy of his protection, but pulls a 180 merely from his smile, lawl.

Last week, Danny said that Kuu is the main, if not only, reason this show is worth watching. By virtue of getting the majority of screen time, I’m beginning to agree. No matter how awesome the rest of the episode in terms of plot and randomness, Kuu’s senseless fantasizing all win all the time. …Setsuna’s hair still winnage though

Here’s hoping that kyosora can find some magical balance of randomness, plot and keep Kuu’s internal monologuing interesting for another 8 episodes.

They actually passed up an opportunity at a kisu scene? BLASPHEMY!

This series is interesting enough, and it will be an interesting test to see how many times I can hear Kuu say “Haikei watashi no oujisama…” before I start throwing things.

And now it’s been revealed that Kyoshiro is planning to kill all the Absolute Angels… including Setsuna - he is now offically a demon. Maybe Kuu will figure out that princes are overrated and, well, you all saw how ‘intrigued’ she was with Kaon and Himeko.

Either way, there’s still something we don’t know about her and that something will one way or another put a stop to Kyoshiro’s plans.

heh, so are we meant to be doubting who is good and who is evil now? like between the oyanokoji brothers or something…sigh, i think this episode is meant to make you think, but i think i’ll just switch off my brain for now and continue watching…

@ Wererat: “Maybe Kuu will figure out that princes are overrated and, well, you all saw how ‘intrigued’ she was with Kaon and Himeko.”

I like your train of thought =D

@ Danny: That would probably be the best way to enjoy it. But I fear that something big may happen at the end involving massive amounts of terminology and plot reference with the potential to cause terminal brain failure the likes of the NGE ending X_X
