Chikane! Kaon!
Episode Rating: 8.5/10
The second episode of Kyoshiro to Towa no Sora proves to be just as random as the first, but all the more awesome. This episode was every bit as packed as the last, meaning more mecha battles, an overflow of terminology and history and a whole slew of new characters. I still can’t pinpoint why I find the series as appealing as I do, but as long as it continues to entertain, I’ll stick with it.
The episode starts off in the aftermath of the battle from the previous episode. Kyoshiro gets patched up and leaves with the head of the student counsel, whom appear to be involved in the Absolute Angel ordeal. After a pure fanservice bath scene between Setsuna and Kuu, Kaon attacks the two and kidnaps Kuu.
She awakes at another school, presumably Kaon’s, where we get some background on the individuals with mecha summoning abilities. These people are referred to as Zettai Tenchi (Absolute Angel) they possess absolute return, absolute destruction, absolute movement and absolute energy (aka eternal mana). Basically: superhuman regenerative, destructive, maneuverability and energy, why they couldn’t have just said that is beyond me.
Due to a convenient wound, Kaon demonstrates the transference of energy (eternal mana) which is done by kissing, in this case she and her female servant Himiko. After locking lips for no less than a full minute, the yuri session is brought to an end by Setsuna, who has come to take back Kuu. A mecha battle and second appearance of the flying horse later, Kuu is saved.

Afterwards Kaon and Himiko answer to Mika, who I assume is their school’s head, for their failure to capture Kuu. Kaon tries to take the blame, but Mika ends up pushing it onto Himiko, who Mika takes to a back room for an S&M session.

Thoughts
If I hear the world zettai repeated that many times in a single paragraph ever again, I cannot guarantee the safety of the people in the surrounding area -_-”
But aside from that, this episode was great! Kuu’s monologues, which seem to be letters to her prince, are…I’m not sure whether to say brilliant or idiotic here. If they’re being cheesy on purpose, then I say brilliant, if not, idiotic. She dramatizes everything! Not that I can blame her, after what she’s been through, but her rants about her first kiss, the bath and the KaonXHimiko makeout session are hilariously misplaced.
As for the fanservice for the sake of fanservice technique, I’m having mixed feelings. Generally, I don’t like it because it usually shows a lack of ability to think of a plot, opting to fill the gaps with fanservice instead. However, in this case there’s not a shortage of plot elements, which begs the question, why add fanservice at all? Most probably it’s just to appease the hormones of the male target audience, and I for one, won’t complain as long as it remains a side element.
I think I’ll keep blogging this series, despite my attempts to stop the weekly episode reviews/analyses. I’m sure we’re all eager for a main plotline to surface, but until then let’s just enjoy the randomness and Kuu’s idiosyncrasies.
Fanservice!

For the guys!

For the girls! …all three of them

For the furries?
