Inspired by This post on Picture Perfect Paranoia I did a little browsing and found more versions of [God Knows...] and [Lost My Music], insert songs from episode 12 of Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuutsu, as if the entire world didn’t know that already. These two were the best by far.

God Knows…

Lost My Music

This guy is amazing. Technically flawless and he even does his own backings with overlays with bass or a second guitar. In terms of creativity, he completely rearranged the songs using the guitar to match the vocals instead of mimicking the actual guitar and bass tracks.

Watching some of his other videos has awed me, his use of arpeggios (sweep picking) is masterful. The arrangements could use a bit of work though as they are based mostly on existing vocal/base/guitar tracks and lack originality. Though he did do a good job of reconstructing the [Lost My Music] solo, which sounds horrid in the original.

I play some basic level guitar, mostly accoustic since I’m too poor to afford an electric. I’ve attempted to learn [God Knows...] but it’s proving rather difficult because I can’t get some of the parts down without an electric…plus it just sounds terrible on accoustic. If I ever am able to play it anywhere near the quality of this guy, I might record a vid and spread humaliation upon myself via internet XD so look forward to that.

In any case, enjoy the vids. Maybe it’ll inspire some of you to pick up an instrument XD

Sounds awesome to me, but I admit I have absolutely no musical knowledge or talent or anything. In any case, impressive!

But why must they always stay anonymous? =(

Wow…absolutely beautiful – he must have spent a lot of time editing & replaying; seeing that he managed to coordinate all his separate videos together almost seemlessly.

I believe that a bunch of people were helped or inspired by this. Been waiting for somebody to perform a live band version of any of the songs – A “God Knows…” live would be awesome beyond words.

Looking forward to your version – more Haruhi love is always good ;)

Ah, coding skills, I leave that domain to Soda, I’ll admit I’m a noob in everything except basic java and C++.

As for my version of this, don’t hold your breath =P typically, I have time to practice guitar maybe once a week for no longer than an hour =( University sux. But if I get my hands on a nice electric, my enthusiasm to practice may get a significant boost.

It’s interesting to see how you and Soda complement each other in different fields of interest ;)

Hmm, I would say that most of the coding errors I make are due to carelessness – java with an IDE having dynamic error checking has spoiled me bad. I’m learning C now, and I’m also beginning to see how java has pampered me with it’s exception handling XD.

Ya, honing a musical skill takes time and effort; it’s funny – the passion to do something like learning a song always comes when I’m most busy, not during term breaks.

That was beautiful. Damn, I kick myself everytime I remind myself that i took up the drums instead of the guitar :(

@ bakavic: Indeed, although I think Soda’s a little more ambitious, actually carrying out his papercrafts. As opposed to myself who just critiques and never does anything =( mainly due to extreme laziness.
@ Retsgip: Drums are also quite nice, I have seem some awesome snare solos with hand movement so fast my eyes can’t even keep up o.o
@ Soda: He his own site XD Kurikinton Fox

this is really well performed. the studio that created god knows should shoot a video of the making of the instrumental version.
